SY Nations Cup 2017 has the potential to become the biggest teamgame tournament in years. The SY Sponsor has been generous and kind enough to sponsor ¥ 200,000 for the prize pool for the Gold League (top 8). In the announcement we said we were looking into getting a prize pool for the Silver League (places 9-16) as well. So far we have raised $ 3,000 but I am sure we can get even more with the help of all you guys who enjoy watching and/or playing SY Nations Cup 2017 or just AoC in general.

If you wish to donate to the Silver League of SY Nations Cup 2017, you can use the donation button below. You can add a message to the donation, please specify your nickname in the donation so we can add it to this post. This can be done anonymously as well of course!

Donations:

  • Carlini - $ 2,000
  • (_blank) Anonymous - $ 1,000

That's amazing.

Now the "lower" teams will not only have the opportunity to represent their country playing the Nations Cup, but they will have even more reasons to practice hard and get a prize money as well.

Thank you guys who contribuited with this!

wow thats really great for the tournament.
i felt like top 8 is nearly set anyway (2x brasil, 2x china, vietnam, finland and argentina), but this grades up the whole tournament  so many other countries can fight for some price money :D

Shouldn't it say placement prizes instead of silver league? If I understand the rules and settings correctly gold league is top 16 with SY sponsoring 1-8th. Silver League is for 17th and lower for anyone not qualified to gold league?

Very confusing indeed, since 16 countries participate in the gold league and the 17th-... place are in the silver league.
I assume they mean money for 9th until 16th place and NOT silver league.

To be clear, although "Gold League" covers both the top 16 group stage and the double elimination stage for the top 8, it is possible for teams that do not make it to the top 8 to enter the "Silver League" once they drop down after the group stage.

The "Silver League" can consist of teams that would have traditionally placed from 9th onwards.

Per the Rules and Settings (viewtopic.php?f=1536&t=130802), Format:
Knockout Stage: Single Elimination. Consisting of 16 Nations, 8 Nations that survived the Silver League Group Stage and the 8 Nations that dropped down from the Gold League Group Stage. If less than 8 Nations progress from the Gold League Group Stage to the Silver League Knockout Stage, the next highest rated Nation in the Silver League Group Stage will take its place.

9-16th drop down to the silver league after the Gold League group stage if they want to continue. They join the winners of the silver league group stage.

Yet again Norways chance to salvage something is thwarted! It's sad to disappoint out most passionate fans Morten and Ørjan one more time.

Jokes aside, nice to see other good teams have a shot on prizes also. It rewards teams that put in the effort also. Thanks to all that contributs!
nonononono. We will just do a wooden spoon style for the teams that dropout! And let these pro teams battle it out for their top 16.

Just like last time!
