One area I feel AoE2 could really improve on is better and more centralized highlights of pro games and tournaments. I absolutely loved the highlights of NAC3 Nili put together and I think they're great ways to show off notable moments, get people from outside the scene interested without having to commit several hours to watching full matches, and get hype for different players. I know after watching a long tournament it's cool to get reminded of big moments that happened early on in a tournament that may have been forgotten.
I love watching pro games and typically watching games in their entirety. I definitely agree that AoE can be hard sometimes to show highlights since the way many games are won are through macro, decisionmaking, and overall strategy as opposed to some cool micro or a demo or onager shot. But I think highlights could show off some of that strategy as well. If you took a 4 hour showmatch set and condensed it into a 15 minute highlight reel you could still get a decent sense for each match with some well chosen clips.
I say this because there are now so many good pro players, so many tournaments, and so many matches going on that it's literally impossible to watch them all and I as an avid fan want to stay up to date- I like being able to go on YT and watch 5-9 minute clips of NBA games so I don't have to devote 2.5 hours to watch a game.
I think this could be another great niche for a streamer/caster to carve out for themselves and would become pretty popular in the community. I think there's a lot of really talented people in the community (not me) that could increase their popularity with something like this.
I'd love to get feedback and see what you guys think.
