SteelSeries Prime Cup

Hello everyone and welcome to the SteelSeries Prime Cup. The SteelSeries Prime Cup will be a 1 vs. 1 Age of Empires IV tournament with 1024 players placed in a single elimination bracket competing for a $20,000 prize pool. SteelSeries Prime Cup will hold up to 1024 players making it the biggest competitor field ever in an Age of Empires tournament. The event will only span across two days making this a super action-packed and fast-paced tournament.

$10,000 are sponsored by Microsoft and $10,000 are sponsored by SteelSeries which adds up to a total prize pool of $20,000:

Thats the GL sponsor, isn't It? Last time they hosted a tournament it ended up with an AM final if I remember correctly so it seems they are trying to avoid this happening again by organising a tourney in aoe4 this time.

 

I was super excited when I saw the thread in the "New posts" section, then I clicked, then I saw "Age of Empires IV"

The true ones here will remember the STEELSERIES 1v1 AoE2 events, weekly events with the greatest players, varied maps, you had to beat the challenger in place, it was just awesome. Then it sort of became Polaris Saiyanhood.

Kinda miss these things. I remember FeAge beating Viper 5-2 or 5-1 in one of those events haha.

I also first was astonished. But in the end it is just one Bo1 more for the players.
Still, 7 series after each other in one day are a lot.

But it is good to see that SteelSeries is back to sponsoring AoE events.

right, Redbul wololoo 5 had more games for players going to day 2, as qualifier had r128,r64, r32 were bo3 and r16 was bo5. So max of 11 games vs max of 16 games or 10 games in GENESIS

Packing so many sets day 1 seems very tricky (even if they are BO1s, there's a lot of time needed to get players to start a set). And then there's having two BO3s before finals. Probably not ideal for admins and viewers, but I still hope everything is smooth and the tournament is interesting!

You have to give tournament coordinator a decent seeding, else no more money for you in future. Nili is directing all the MS money to aoe4, people need to reward him in some way

These organizers are trying to act like devs from Relic, they know aoe4 crowd will eat unfinished sht (aoe2 crowd is no different though, people keep buying DLCs)

Awesome tournament. Very enjoyable for newer players as well to see a lot of different games being casted by different commentators.

One thing I'd like to see changed for a next big tournament is QF's and SF's on seperate timings but I guess you guys have a valid reason to not do it.

Needs no saying and I doubt you care but just ignore the people above who feel they have the right to decide what organisors and pro's have to play or do.

ladder seeding doesn't work well with all infinite resources glitchs and upgrade bugs abusers. top 64 from genesis are at least guaranteed to be good players
