Being honest, Season 8 resp. the end of the story, after 7 years, is just too sad...
People claim they like got because its brutal, unforeseeable, shocking - and now season 8 is all of that, and people don't like it...
One might argue that writing & character development have been more careful (mostly slower) in previous Seasons, but it just ain't that - you can actually make a case that the "mad queen arc" has started in Season 4 or 5.
This said, given the cineastic quality of the latest episodes, especially episode 3 "the long night", ratings currently given e.g. on imdb are just ridicioulous...
And: Stop this book-reader crap… weiss / benioff did a hell of a job knitting all loose ends together (I did love episode 4). Unlike grrm they actually delivered, I stopped praying for the next book two years ago.
Anyway: GOT is coming to an end - that's the real tragedy here...
