When it comes to tournaments for Age of Empires 2, we've seen it all: open maps, closed maps, Arabia, Socotra, water maps, hybrid maps, custom civs, low elo, mid elo, high elo, Empire Wars, team games, 1v1, and others. This is not one of those. This tournament series will revisit all of them in turn, but at a much faster pace. The Speed Cup is designed to be the fastest Age of Empires 2 tournament ever done, and to truly challenge the best of players.
This will use a mod for a faster speed if possible, if not it'll use the Fast speed. Turbo Mode will be enabled. Handicap will be at 200% for every player.
There will be 3 groups: High elo (1700+), mid-elo (1000-1700), and low elo (0-1000). If there is a prize pool, 50% will be for the high elo, and 25% each for mid and low elo.
There is no prize pool yet, but 50% of all proceeds from my Twitch channel (if I reach Affiliate by then) will go towards it.
The first edition of this (Open maps, 1v1) will likely take place this May.
Further rules and settings can be found here: Speed Cup Rules and Settings (please comment if I'm missing anything)
Sign-ups will open on April 20th and close on May 15th. I will post the link here when sign-ups open. You must have a minimum of 15 1v1 games played to enter.
Updates will be posted... somewhere XD. It might just be here. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
I will be casting all the games I can on my Twitch channel.
Hopefully this tournament approaches as quickly as it'll be played!
