Hi All,
I just moved to a new home and have decided it's time to upgrade my desk, chair, etc., and it got me thinking about my sitting position while I play. I am constantly leaning forward, microing intensely with my face fairly close do the screen. Contrast that with my friend who has a completely different play style (i.e. **** micro, great macro); he leans back in his chair relaxed for the vast majority of the game. We both maintain a 1v1 RM rating somewhere between 1950 and 2100 depending on how badly we suck on a given day, but I am mentally exhausted after only a few games whereas he can play all day without feeling the strain. It wouldn't be a stretch to assume that part of this exhaustion is also physical.
I am beginning to wonder if there is some merit to the relaxed seating position and whether I should be trying harder to adopt it. Keeping my face further away from the screen would probably prevent tunnel vision where I stop thinking holistically about my strategy, but it may come at the expense of my microing abilities.
I'm mostly interested in thoughts from higher level players just to see if there is a trend in how they sit. What do you all do? Sit close or lean back?
