Really generous prize pool and an interesting player matchup!
Although, as mentioned above, I am not a fan of outright giving the loser $250 in a showmatch. I think it makes for a far more competitive series if each game was worth, say for instance $100. Therefore if the series went 4-3 the winner would get $400 + the remaining $300 and the loser $300, and if the winner happened to win 4-0 he would take everything and the loser nothing. Each game is costly and the winner is rewarded for dropping less games and likewise the loser for making it a closer series.

I always heard halen was insane, even viper+daut belong in the conversation, tim as well, riut as well. Yo should have a spot too his 7 year run has been crazier than themax's

And probably 10-15 guys from the really old era of aoc.

Only in 1v1 you can claim something like ''viper is the best ever'' because the only argument is DauT for his long run.

Thanks to everyone for your replies and the hype. We wanted to see those two go against each other for a while, and our original schedule was before 2pools and ECL. We missed them during "who is #2" and that was the original motivation to organize this match. We are hoping for a close and competitive match.

I have read the concerns about the prizes. We hope that the players will see it as an incentive to perform as if it was a grand final for a small tournament and play to the top of their ability and skill. The difference between winner and loser is substantial enough, in my opinion, to motivate them to win instead of just going the Philster way of Allied Victory.

I cannot speak for the other two sponsors, but I personally think those two players deserve their chance at this pool. There's many other players that also deserve it, and I hope other sponsors (or we in the future) will give them a call to play for money.

Ikr. Such absolute nonsense. Most professional competitors aren't in it for the money. They get to the top because they are driven by the winning itself. Split prizepools are common in all 1v1 sports with standalone matches: chess, boxing, whatever. The loser is also compensated for the time, effort, and money that goes into practising. If you pay the loser nothing you soon have no sport at all. Tennis is virtually impossible at lower professional levels, unless you have existing wealth, because of the paucity of prize money.

Anyway, fantastic to see such a high-level showmatch so soon after ECL. Pretty sure enough people will find out about it. Enough streamers are already on board, and I'm sure the other big ones will get involved too. One or two might even put the matches on YouTube afterwards without attributing to the tournament creators.

But above all these sponsors generosity should be commended! Great work.

I doubt anybody thinks that. I personally dont understand why the players should be rewarded 250USD for loosing a series. Majority of sponsored showmatches between 2 top players didnt have 250 prizepool for both players together.
I also have to agree with Memb and his comparison showmatch/tournament. If you give player 750 USD just for winning 4 - 7 games (and players seem to be in shape 2 days ago, so no need for major preparation), how much should you pay players to motivate them to get far in major tournament?

Other than that, its absolutely the sponsors who decide what to do with their own money and Iam thankful for anyone whos willing to sponsor AOE events.
