Matt Salsa is the original founder of Mixer (then called Beam) that was acquired by Microsoft. He kept heading the Mixer division of Microsoft (I guess at least from a technical standpoint) for a while.

To be honest I don't know if he heard of AoE 2 because he was working at MS or because he played it as a child like many of us. However he was involved in some AoE 2/Mixer events such as Viper moving to Mixer temporarily. To be clear though, I am not implying he donated because of he was at MS. Pretty sure he did that simply because he enjoyed the game and its personalities.

MattSalsa has made incredibly generous contributions to the Aoe2 professional scene that imo has been a catalyst of growth of it.
Just think about one thing as an example: He put $9000 into the Viper-Daut BO37 in 2018 while just a few months prior to that Hidden Cup 1 had a total pricepool of ~$1500.

He basically supported the game/community that he loves during a time where there were not too many sponsors around.
Nowadays Microsoft puts money into the game, therefore there isnt really the need for such contributions from individuals (which might chance in the mid-/ longterm future, we dont know).

RBW5 Group stage had some problems in terms of stability. If I remember correctly Nili said they hired satelitte truck for the single elimination stage to avoid connection problems.

Stability isn't necessarily the problem, but bandwith. Main problem is that Germany still heavily invested in copper, when other countries already invested in optical fiber. Sure, there are places where you can get good internet, but if you are unlucky the only offer you get is a 100k connection that only delivers 25k. And no, being in a bigger city isnt the solution either, some big cities have worse connection than some villages.

Don’t know if what I wrote was misinterpreted slightly. I meant it raises eyebrows due to the huge amount. From what I recall Matt saying in the clip, it was over 200k (probably more if he kept giving afterwards). Seems he was keeping track too. Don’t think Murat or the Tyrant sponsor gave away nearly that much.

Can actually exactly confirm, went from 30€ for 100 Mbit to 20 CHF for 1Gbit.. but what got me most was the 25 Gbit option, like wtf, the only way Germany ever reaches that speed is if we drive bags of hard drives down the Autobahn

Yes that is part of the problem but there is also the difference in business model. Switzerland never privatised it's infrastructure (for the most part) so the power network is still owned by the Kantons and they just lay down fiber whenever they dig up the road anyway and then rent the capacity to internet providers. Thanks to this we have a very large number of providers that all use the same cables and it turns out building one fast network is way less expensive then 3-4 slow ones. Also infrastucture that is owned by the government is focused on being infrastructure while privatized "infrastructure" is just a way to maximize profit at the cost of everyone else.

I'd argue the Swiss keyboard is worse than the German one. At least the German one is trying to only please Germans, while the Swiss one makes some compromises to please the French at the same time...

We just replace the stupid German double ss thing we don't use anyway with éè not really a problem for German speaking people, it's a bigger problem if you write in French because éè need shift and öäü don't.

is it serious german keyboards had a double S or did i just get it wrong?

The standard French keyboard is stupid because some very common french characters such as É and È are simply not available to type while a character like ù which is used for one single word (où) has a special dedicated key.
