If players are receiving the game sound through in-ears and on top of that are wearing noise cancelling headphones with presumably some white noise playing through then I don't think they can piece together whatever sound might still be leaking in.

Those are not noise cancelling headphones, those are Sennheiser HD280 Pro and have the exact same at my desk. They are closed over hear headphones, that's all. Not noise cancelling at all! They don't have an active technology like the Bose QC35 for instance. So yeah, players can hear fine.

The players definitely heard the crowd and possibly the commentators sometimes. Liereyy didn't start reacting to raids until the crowd cheered

Under those they had in ear plugs/earphones though. You can see them being put on with help from crew before they start.

Does the crowd also hear casters at CS:GO, WC, SC or lan events from other games?
