As far as I know the new stage is not AoE 4 only, it's also meant to be used for the semis and finals of the AoE 2 event next weekend.

The stage is a huge one for both events and like was mentioned before the castle is not exclusive for aoe, that why last weekend was diferent place, you don’t know the huge work the redbull team has done to move everything so plz stop being ungreatful, we should just say thanks because this was not even a dream not so long ago.

Yup, this. So many issues could have been avoided if people involved were transparent about what's happening.
Nobody told us why quarterfinal had to be cut short and we were denied the opportunity to watch all quarterfinals live, even though we're used to being able to watch all important matches in previous tournaments. There only was some guy saying "i think one mod once said in some place that they have to finish before midnight" after a lot of people were confused, some angry. This could have been avoided with proper planning.

Likewise, Red Bull could have said "we're using this stage 1 during first weekend which you all know from previous tournament BUT in second week all three games will be played on bigger, greater stage 2!". Such a simple thing to say. Costs nothing to do that, hell, it would actually generate more hype and be much better for Red Bull. However, such thing didn't happen. People were left alone to speculate. Only AFTER people showcased disappointment with once again seemingly being treated unfairly, someone came here providing real explanation, while at the same time throwing insults and accusations around.

Time and time again, the only possible way to get any information is to complain until someone maybe hopefully shows up. Often, nobody does and we're left in the dark. I usually ignore your posts because every time you say something it's pathetic company bootlicking but i'll make the special exception here - if you were taught reading comprehension in school, you would have known to read full sentence before responding to it. Red Bull putting a lot of effort into designing a stage (same one as in previous tournament) is in no way indicative of the fact props get moved from one location to another.
Before becoming all accusatory (i know it's in your nature to only spew vitriol at whoever dares to have different opinion from self-entitled oh so important Tarsiz) you could try putting yourself in shoes of other people, to try better understanding their perspective.
What did simple viewer know?

Can you truly tell me that it is impossible to draw a conclusion of two games being treated differently? Especially when it is already a well established fact that AoE 4 gets preferential treatment despite outputting worse numbers than AoE 2?

BTW i didn't even know AoE 4 was held on different stage (or that different stage was prepared for second week) before reading this thread. I don't really hold a strong opinion on that matter either. Even if only AoE 4 had better stage, while AoE 2 was stuck with old one, I wouldn't complain about it because I can understand why Microsoft would have a bias for newest child, as they already showed on multiple occasion, including prize pool distribution for this very event we're talking about. Yes, now I know it isn't the case, and it was """simply""" a matter of scheduling issues between Red Bull and Heidelberg Castles staff and Red Bull refusing to provide information about it to the viewers.

You know there were a ton of behind the scenes videos of different people, mentioning that they would move to a bigger stage for finals even before the AoE2-event started? Red Bull doesn't want these things in their main stream like a director doesn't want to interrupt their movie to show you why a specific set was chosen, but the information was available for people who are interested.

I don't find a comparison to the movie accurate. Movies tell a story set within a setting which is shown but never talked about. Talking about the setting would break immersion of the movie.
However it isn't the case here. Viewers of the tournament are perfectly aware that stage was set up for it, host and casters often talked about that, brought up how it looks etc. It wouldn't have hurt anything if they also said there would be a different stage for second week. Only positives would occur, generating more interest and hype.

Behind the scene videos should never be a required watch to get basic information. BTW I watched some of them and those didn't mention anything about second stage.

For gods sake, can you please stop glorifying. You know what INCREDIBLE hard work is? Putting bricks for 8 hours a day, or crawling in a sewerage the whole day killing rats.
Putting up PCs, a network and software needs IT-, software knowledge and logistics, not hard physical work. And those guys are payed very well with Red Bull as organizer, I'm pretty sure of it. Those glorifying posts make it seem to believe they do it pro bono. It's a normal employer-employee relationship, nothing more.

Memb also became a speaker for Red Bull it seems since they started to invite him on a regular basis. The first events, I remember completely different words towards the wololo tournament ("I don't care about them" and so on), now it's a dream tournament, where we just should say thanks. We have to stop being ungrateful and stop complaining about things, we don't get even information on, like the stage. What a based post, unbelieveble.

You glorify a company, who's interest is only to sell an extremly unhealthy sugar-caffeine drink by painting a lying picture, that their drink somehow enhances physical and mental performance. The only thing they enhance is the risk for obesity, diabetes and other heart related problems. They don't care about AoE or any other sport for that matter. And for what? Because they are paying you.
Nothing wrong with it of course, thats how capitalism works. But stop selling this "just say thanks and shut up" bullshit here. There are enough people who look at the whole picture and not just at the goodie dangling infront of our faces.

nonono it must be that Redbull wanted give worse stage for aoe2! After friday's aoe4 games they will move back to old set and all aoe2 audience with tickets will be stuck in each other while in small room while on sunday aoe4 audience can sit on chairs! Evil RedBull spends more time and money to make aoe2 suffer! We should not use any commons sense at all but instead jump to first conspiracy we can think of!

What sort of logic is this? We shouldn't appreciate something because they are paid? So, any person/ company which is not a charity should never be appreciated, even if they are doing good work. We should not say a restaurant's meal was delicious because the chef was paid by the employer or the performance by an artist was amazing because he didn't do it pro bono. That's going to be a pretty sad world if it comes to that. Also, I don't agree with the statement that only physical word is hard work and "putting up pcs, network and software needs" is not hard work.

Also, nobody said anything about Redbull, the company and its products before you brought them up. 90% of the corporations today sell you products that at best you don't need and at worst are harmful. Almost all big sporting events are sponsored by soft drink or shoe companies. Nobody "glorified" Redbull products as far as I can read.

While we are anonymous posters on an obscure forum, the players and the casters are real people. Imagine only the winner getting $60,000, something that a few years ago was not even the prize pool of all combined 1v1s in a year. Or a caster who after years of casting a perceived "dead game" gets the support of corporations and thousands of people. You are not looking at the "goodie dangling in front" of you because you don't even have a stake, while for others it's literally their profession and means to earn a livelihood. If next year, there's no Redbull Wololo, it doesn't even matter to you while the players and casters potentially lose out the biggest paycheck of their lives.

Some people are just grateful because as Memb said, this was really unimaginable a few years ago. Seeing our favorite players fight it out in person in a freaking castle in a game we love is more than we could have asked for. So what even if AoE4 players got the bigger stage (even though it isn't)? How does it even matter? Who cares? Why the incessant comparisons with AoE4 when we know Microsoft is going to pump in more money into their newer game? Why not just come to terms with it and be happy for where AoE2 is at right now?

As for the other criticisms (eg B stream mishaps etc), they are perfectly valid and should be highlighted. Hopefully, Redbull will take these into account and we get an even grander tournament the next year.
