Red Bull Wololo, the iconic global 1v1 Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition tournament, is back for a groundbreaking final fifth iteration, with a medieval theme and an awe-inspiring LAN Final at Castle Heidelberg in Germany. Since the beginning of August, registrations have been open for the qualification stage taking place on August 14th and 15th, offering aspiring conquerors around the world the opportunity to take on the biggest stars in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, including the reigning Red Bull Wololo Champion, Liereyy. Each tournament is a fierce battle of wits as only the top players rise to the ultimate challenge and compete for the most vigorous civilisation.

A spectacle for the ages, Red Bull Wololo V is set to be the most prominent iteration yet, befitting the final chapter of the series. The quest to Castle Heidelberg has already begun, and players can register to the Red Bull Wololo V qualification stage, where hundreds of players will battle for two spots in the final. The group stage will take place from September 13th to 17th, determining the final twelve who will throw down the gauntlet at the Red Bull Wololo V Final from September 18th to 19th. A spectacular final chapter, the gothic Castle Heidelberg in Germany will be transformed, bringing players back in time with breathtaking medieval cosplay and more! The final will be narrated by leading broadcast talents and streamed on YouTube and Twitch, with streams in English, German, Spanish and many more languages.

Red Bull Wololo V fortifies the success of previous events in the series. The first Red Bull Wololo began in 2020, and viewership and participation have continued to increase as the storyline evolved. Red Bull Wololo IV came to an exciting five-day conclusion in June 2021 and saw 40,000 peak concurrent viewers and over 1,000 Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition players registered for the Red Bull Wololo IV qualification stage. The world's highest-ranked Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition stars from around the world are set to return for the final chapter, including Red Bull Wololo IV winner Kai 'Liereyy' Kallinger.

Red Bull Wololo plays out on Empire Wars, a unique game mode for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, seeing two players face off in an honourable duel like the knights of old. Each game starts in the Feudal Age, skipping Dark Age to jump into the action as fast as possible. As part of the series, each Red Bull Wololo has introduced a new story arc for players to compete in. Red Bull Wololo I and II had players compete to control a castle and library in Western civilisation. Red Bull Wololo III represented Asian civilisation, and in Red Bull Wololo IV, players took on the role of battle-hardened Viking warriors in a Nordic-themed event.

Oh no once again that "Why do you complain, would you rather have them not support AoE2 tournaments" logic!

Yes once again because it is super valid. But if you have a SOLUTION for this situation that is in our and MS/RB interest and all have advantage i am and i assume everyone is open for it. so dont complain but give a solution to make the situation better for all or at aleast for you while dont reduce benefit for RB/MS.

its simple. You dont get far without give a proper solution for a given probelm.

More serious - it's clear that some players drop out and it's a good thing that they withdraw before instead of letting their opponents wait. Let's wait and see how many it affects.

It's fewer players because people have been cancelling their registrations due to various personal reasons.

i knew, various personal reasons are visa, covid codes, quarantine days. because 3 people i know are among these various personal reasons.

previous RBW qualifiers started at 13:00 GMT at Round of 512. RBW 5 start at 15:45 GMT at Round of 64. enough said.

I dont know where you got that info from but its wrong, RBW5 qualifier will start at 13 GMT with the round of 512.

 

I might be speculating, but I guess all the Finns would be in the same situation as MBL.

As finn i would say it's likely although AFAIK Pfizer vaccines do not need 12 weeks between meaning finns could reschedule to be vaccinated earlier

partly agree on that part. just disagreeing with the notion that online final = lan final in terms of grandness.

(nobody would care if 2 or 3 ppl from the top20 cant make it while the entire top10 can. There is definitely a grey area of exclusion that is or isnt okay)

well most of the players got a bye in round 1, but with more than 256 players you have to start with the ro512 if you want to include everyone.

Maybe they will make this event a combination of Hidden Cup and RBW and we will only find out the participating at the reveal at the end.
Obviously everyone at the LAN will be required to wear a Daut mask to keep their identities hidden.

It's clear that you want to host a "Grand" event before AoE4, and that's great! But just FYI - having it online wouldn't make it any less Grand. Rather, some top players being excluded will certainly make it less Grand.

They just want the images of some tournament being played inside a castle which they can use to promote AoE4 and AoE4 events. They don't care exactly who the players are. But the images will be better than Daut face in a dark room or F1re playing shirtless in front of his cam.

 

Extremely questionable move to host a live tournament where some players are completely restricted and others are indirectly restricted because they cant afford some weeks of quarantine in their normal live!

It's really irresponsible and inconsequential from Redbull to make a LAN tournament while the pandemic is still not over. Shame to them. Hope all the qualified/invited players can attend to the event without problems, and most importantly, nobody gets COVID.

this is total BS, so no one must do nothing because some guys cant attend. yes sure its not the best moment, but we cant do nothing and be at home to the end of time. we must learn to live with covid. its better to do something with the people that are available than do nothing.

plus, stop asking for price money. without any price, people and players want to attend too. its not all about money, it also count live experience and be with people that loves what you love.

Did you notice that august is a month were ALOT people is on holidays so basically only people that really want to commit will sign up to join the event, not only think that if there is only 2 spots those people that are not signing for qualifier also know they have 0 chances to qualify.

The 1st 2nd and even 3rd round of qualifiers are always rounds with 0 interest since is so one sided.

Being said this why to keep being negative, ofc is not ideal situation but imagine that Covid never finish, and we don’t know when will finish then what?? We stop and don’t do anything in years?? We must just keep going and be grateful that aoe2 is getting this crazy support.

No, Memb, COVID pandemic will end, like others in history had. I suggest you read more about previous pandemics, like H1N1, Spanish flu and others. That's the problem with people: they want to be too entitled of their opinions from their pure common sense, instead of researching and studying to develop truly rational opinions.

 

Can you make it partly online and partly offline, like Daut were in Nili's Apartment Cup 3? He was unable to attend , so he stayed home playing the matches. We want the highest quality content that means having absolutely the best players such as ACCM , Dogao , Vinchester , Mr Yo in the tournament.

 

if random footballplayer can fly and play a game, its totally fine to host a small lan tournement. just test the guys and fine.
