Is that Germany doesn't allow citizens from countries with dangerous Covid Variants, even with quarantine and vaccinations. What did RB try and what didn't work, do you know specifics ?
we had tournaments where top 3 players did not participate due to covid restrictions, and we could also add injuries to that, since that often is not personal resposibility but unfortunate outer conditions.
All of this is because of players own choices or circumstances and not because of organization.
Tennis requires physical presence of players, can't do it virtually. Aoe tournaments have been perfectly fine online.
Don't compare apples with oranges.
since when does a lan event not require physical presence?
It's not a question whether players can play fine from home (obv they can and have a huge advantage on top of that) it's just increasing the chance that something is not working as intended and getting out of hand. You can play AOE perfectly fine online as well. 1/2 top players playing from his home wouldn't ruin lan event but rather make it a full top tier event.
Oh yeah, I remember how these issues were so frequent during RBW 1-4. Actually, I don't!it's just increasing the chance that something is not working as intended and getting out of hand.
Just imagine f.e Yo at home having a power outage, or the internet is not working, or dauts son bites the cable or anything else, or yo just not being punctual.
In local heroes 3 events we had multiple instances of 1-2 players playing through online connection because they could not make it. The 2 things are not mutually exclusive.![]()

Are you trolling ?Oh yeah, I remember how these issues were so frequent during RBW 1-4. Actually, I don't!
It's like trying to find a reason why online tournaments can't be conducted when nearly 90% of them are online.
I don't think we should be missing a game mode that has evolved into 20 mins of gametime where almost exclusively is all about walling and camping, which is just about who can get to castle age faster with less invesment, boredorm to the players and the viewers(and because EW, of course, just hope this will be the last event with this disgusting mode)
without Yo there, No one can stop Viper lol
You're tripping hard man. Besides Yo and Dogao, this guys are the one that consistently have made good EW tournaments. Yeah, some qualifier player could hipotetically defeat them; but they will still be the favoritesthe least half could've been defeated by a qualifier guy.
You're the one tripping. "Could" doesn't mean they would, or that they are any worse than qualifier guys, obviously they aren't. Just that they could, indeed, lose to Slam, Capoch, Dracken, Jordan, Laaan, or another qualifier guy. You're tripping hard man. Every player can lose against every player (to a certain extent). Hera or Lierrey can lose to a top 100. But how many times out of 20 times that will happen? 1? 2 ?You're the one tripping. Inviting them directly was an anti-competitive measure, that's my point.
By "could" he means more likely than possible at all.Every player can lose against every player (to a certain extent). Hera or Lierrey can lose to a top 100. But how many times out of 20 times that will happen? 1? 2 ?
If we set an incredibly high standard for calling a tournament competitive, I can't think of a single 1v1 tournament that is competitive in recent years (please help me remember). All other tournaments had some issues that make them not competitive:
- random brackets, (Hidden Cups)
- seeding based on tournaments that had random brackets, (RBW 1)
- subjectively inviting players, (NACs)
- top players not being able to play because of Visa issues (NACs)
- top player(s) not being able to play because of sign up problems, (Open Classic, RBWs)
- Single maps (KOTDs, MOAs, Clown Cup)
- Not having enough prize-pool (non S-tier tournaments)
- Part of a bigger tournament that limits 2 participants per team and excludes everyone else (1v1s in ECL)
- Players not being motivated and not playing "seriously" (non S-tier tournaments)
- Not starting from dark age (RBWs)
- Changing tournament rules mid tournament (...)
- DauT having to qualify (every tournament DauT had to qualify or didn't qualify)
The reason why Redbull doesn't want Yo playing online is quite simple: they want the event to be 100% purely LAN, and this outweighs the bummer of not having some of the top players participating.
Which I still find it quite irresponsible for them to be this ambitious and proud during a pandemic, and I elaborated that further in the main RBW topic. Going hybrid would show a minimum of sensibility towards the context the world is facing, and allow all the top players to join.
And comparing RBW to NAC doesn't make sense. First because NAC is an amateur event made by a physical person, and of course that makes him lack the money and structure to be able to pull everything off, while Redbull is a corporation that has the money and structure for it.
Second, now we are in a pandemic, and the fact players aren't able to attend due to COVID restrictions is way sadder than if it was due to VISA reaso
except for the no fans part of itthere is so much more potential for a properly produced show this way
