After 2 strenuous qualifiers we now have our final eight players dogao, Nicov, Villese, Vinchester, ACCM, Capoch, miguel & TheMax joining the invited players!

The bracket is seeded by splitting up the 8 invited players based on their placements in RBW1, then randomly seeding the qualifiers against them.

Day 1: Thursday 20th - Starting at 13gmt
Day 2: Friday 21st - Starting at 13gmt
Day 3: Saturday 22nd - Starting at 13gmt
Day 4: Sunday 23rd - Starting at 13gmt

Was really impressed with every aspect of this event - the stream, casters, interviews, organization and of course the gameplay. Well done to all involved, only builds the excitement heading into KOTD3!

 

Really bummed I wasn't able to follow live. It was an awesome final day!

Thanks to all the casters and everyone involved in organising the event and stream. It felt like everything was done very professionally and was a lot of fun to watch.

I enjoy the EW gamemode with the reduced farms so much in terms of playing (participated in Q1) and watching. Although I feel like as time goes by and the format gets more figured out, we will see more and more defensive play as with every new patch/setting in the past. Its the same in other RTS too after a new patch is introduces, where you see sometimes crazy and aggressive strats replaced by more conservative approaches over time as players figure out how to defend efficiently and get away with more greedy play.

 

I am really happy with that tournament in general too.

The brackets was so nice that it gave Max and Nicov especially the time to shine and both being able to almost beat the future tournament winner or TheViper is so hype and they really deserve that spot at the sun.

On the other hand, Liereyy and Hera are two really good finalists, they brought up anything we want to see I think: Motivation to play, prepare and win, to really grind games and analyze strats and then just play very convincingly. Those two have improved a lot the recent months, especially when it comes to reliable preparation and getting rid of their weaknesses which means a lot if you outdraft TaToH into gg already. Its really nice to have this two young men as the future of this game.

Capoch also deserves a lot, I am so happy for him getting the attention and the reward for going the hard way of coming back and playing a lot. Hopefully, that's motiviation for a lot of other old legends to mess around with the established top players. And he gave us a game of the year. Keep it going, he has broken the top 10 on the ladder already.

But also, what Hera said is really true: A big winner is tournament preparation. When we see how we had three upsets in the round of 16 which shows how much of a difference it can make when people being forced to qualify have some training and preparation in their bones while some invited seemed to not have used the time given to prepare and expected to win first round anyway. Seeing this attitutude punished is kind of pleasing. Of course it does not apply to every invited knocked out in the first round, especially when there were ill, but for some it might be true. Therefore seeing Hera and Liereyy win and Nicov and Max almost going even further into the tournament means for me really much. Just that players really start to raise the arms of preparation and in the end the ones really having worked for it to win, means a lot for a tournament and the overall competition too.

It was a really enjoyable weekend and I thank everybody involved for their work and passion that went into it.

 

Had Yo watched this tutorial before Red Bull 2, he wouldn't have picked Korean in that deciding game...

You know that the map was not Arabia, let alone KotD Arabia and it was also another game mode...

 

Regarding the Viper Liereyy game on golden swamp

On top of the clutch sneak in the back of Liereyy's base, there was basically 4 things to spot in that game:
- Liereyy using the market before viper to click up
- Liereyy deleting archery range
- archers on villagers (woodline)
- Demo on archers

very hard to spot everything because it was happening on different part of the map, or even outside the map (market), and very fast, even simultaneously for some

Funny thing, no stream spotted them all, seemingly (still don't know where to find replays on douyu for the chinese stream. maybe they spotted everything over there)
