so why is the tournament admin the one disseminating all information regarding tickets if he has nothing to do with it? Seems terribly organized regardless of the details... which shouldn't be surprising considering the abject disaster that was the previous RBW event

Pure guess on my part, but I would think the Admin is just spreading the information they have to "fans", Red Bull Gaming have their own channel of comms, website, twitter etc. Have to say they are doing a pretty poor job promoting, so maybe that's why Admin is trying to help.

Note I know SFA about this, just a pure outsider looking in and taking a reasonable view.

I think with proper promotion and time to plan, an Aoe2 LAN could get 2k people in attendance. We have a small but very established fan base that is mostly older, which means more disposable income. All of which is to say, there's a happy middle between 50 seats in a castle and a 40k stadium.

I think you vastly overestimate the interest. Not many people have time or interest to jet or train set and drop work, family, or other obligations.

huge mishaps with the invitations, the tournament format, the unresolved ties, the connection issues during the first half of the event, the tournament was literally announced 2 days before the first qualifier... honestly all around the worst run tournament i've ever seen

We are talking about RedBull here dude. They have their own organizer and marketing staff that uses social media, their own webside and newsletters for giveing out such information. Usually fans have to go out their way checking that **** for infos while AOE2 community gets the info dumb shoved down their throats thx to Chrazini. But there are still people like you complaining about special treatmeant not being special enough 11

Chrazini gave this information on the official tournament discord, which should be the right place for it.

Also the almighty RedBull social media was literally too late to announce the sales before tickets were sold out.

I think it would have been OKish if they had just said "stop asking, check our website" but people were literally told to wait for the twitter post, which turned out to be the worst advice you could have given them.

Is it really a big waste of time to give the most hardcore fans with a high degree of involvement in the aoe2 community information about the Lan, when they are the most likely attendees? Actually, you're right, it was a waste of time, cuz they decided to host the tournament in the same awful location with no seating instead of a normal venue like every other esport tournament

Chrazini gave this information on the official tournament discord, which should be the right place for it.

That the fact RedBull tells Chrazini anything about such stuff as tickets and he tells us via DC and Zone is already more than "normal".

Usually such stuff is only done by the marketing department for such company events aka social media and own webpage.

The fact RB did a poor job executing their own part via Twitter is nothing we need to talk about. Just total incompetence all around.

Without Chrazinis heads up info i would have never checked the RBW page before Twitter jingled on my phone and probs as many other be too late for a ticket.

lul i'll never understand the fervor with which people police civility on internet forums. The criticism comes from advertising tickets yet not being able to give even a ballpark number for the amount of available tickets. It's pretty reasonable.

What disaster? As far as I remember the tournament went as planned other than some serious internet issues for 1-2 hours one day. And it wasn't even the production team's fault but something out of their hands.

In the last 10 years we have lost so many sponsors because of some random frustrated guys whinning all day on aoezone because things don't go 100% as they wish. Nothing has changed.

The thing to keep in mind is that every LAN event is going to have issues. There will always be something, whether it's the internet, the sounds, the venue, some admin issue, or a bugged game. This applies to massive esports like CS GO as well. What matters is how quickly it's addressed, and I think RB and the production company did a great job managing issues as they arose at the last one. I'm sure this one will be great as well, just too bad more people couldn't attend.

There were people invited to the event who shouldn't have been invited, that's why there were 14 total players there and the tournament format had to be adjusted on the fly to accommodate them in 4 days of qualifiers. I'm sure you remember the 6 way 2-2 tie that was decided by strength of schedule (lol) instead of the obvious solution of having some sort of playoff on a fifth day. The entire group stage suffered due to these administrative failures. If you can't see the problem there I don't know what to say.

By the way, how did you conclude that sponsors left due to posters on aoezone? How do you know it's not related to players like you and others who sign up for tournaments and then give admin wins forfeitting in the middle of them? Or maybe guys who have a tantrum after losing in hidden cup making their identity quite obvious.

Aren't you one of the aoezone whiners anyways? I distinctly remember you making some rage filled topics regarding DE and subsequently deleting them

They should cancel the Aoe4 event, and schedule the grand grand final for AoE2 on Sunday, so new tickets got available , I see in the image that Aoe4 is not sold out yet. Btw imagine a venue for 2k people full on Saturday, and 50 people attending on Sunday, that would be a PR disaster.

It's not even close. AOE4 isn't even in the same castle hall when it comes to popularity.

You can enjoy both games, but pretending they're even remotely close in terms of a fan base is disingenuous.
