RBW3 Main Event Bracket Discussion

Villese played well, but Viper did the same mistakes he did in both previous Red Bull tournaments by constantly, execpt for Winged, ignoring military presence in favor of defensive play. Game5.. oh boi. I think prolonging the game as much as possible to have it like standard AoE does not work most of the time. Seems he either did not prepare well enough or struggles to adapt to this game mode.

T90 said it well, he doesn't play in the way succesful EW players play and, honestly, it seems like he's fine with it. Just like MBL, he doesn't want to change his playstyle for a game mode that is relevant only every few months, while other players are hungry for victory in any settings.

I feel like the ability to move past this mindset explains how Viper couldn't handle Yo in the first RBW while Daut just beat him, because despite Daut and Viper having similarly greedy inclinations, Daut's grasped the need to take the initiative early while Viper seemingly refuses to adapt similarly.

Maybe, but all the GL boys have been saying how motivated Viper has been for this tournament.

He was also super motivated for KOTD3, but lost to Yo. Granted his kicked butt in Hera's Champions League thing, but the other players are so good now and they've figured out how to punish him.

And if I remember right Viper said he prepared well... and he did the same approach again.
If he tries to be aggressive I think Villese would be quite difficult to handle due to their micro and macro ability.
Why 5TCs boom with Bulgaria and no military upgrade... so confusing.

Well i am glad my predictions were accurate, viper was never the favorite and has never been in EW, the lord once more demonstrates why he is the #2 of the best aoe2 players from all times.

My point was more that I think players will tend to revert back to their natural playstyle when the chips are down even if they're aware they need to make a change or change their approach as has been alluded to with Viper.

Just my opinion, obviously certain players have adapted better than others.

I can't help but be uber happy for ACCM and Villese. Especially the former, always qualifying for tournaments and then often dropping out a bit early. And the elite has maybe gotten used to the big prize pools by now and I assume they scale differently in Canada, Norway, Austria and Germany, but ACCM just made almost two years of average Vietnamese salary already, I'm so happy for him!

And if you grew up watching Kimi tearing up F1 and giving legendary interviews, how can you not love Villese lol. Awesome dude and he was one Hera win away of being the only player in the Semis of both KOTD3 and RBW3.

Also, in a game 5 of a huge tournament the previous winner and bit favorite Lierrey waited for 800/200 food/gold and even garrisoned vils at 790 to click up to castle - as Italians

Liereyy is so good that he doesn't know the full potential of some civs and yet he still wins. Or maybe he just forgot kind of like how people send villagers to the TC as khmer when a wood line is raided.

Daut's last match against ACCM was in Clown Cup 3, where ACCM was up a game, but Daut couldn't finish because he'd come down with covid. So even more in the unfinished business category.

What is the best game from Yo-DauT to watch to see DauT's strategic brilliance? I assume the whole series is good but there has to be one game that really displays it.

Also regarding Hera he has shown consistently he is the most flappable of the elite players so I don't think throwing games from indecision/fearfulness should come as much of surprise. From what I can tell it seems like it comes from a combination of unreasonable self-doubt and worrying too much about the results. He is a great talent so he needs to play as he plays and trust the results will come. This is easier said than done but it really is the only thing holding him back.

You would need a third weekend, kind of going against the idea of skipping dark age to get more condensed action non-stop. But that’s obviously personal preference
