Queue dodging penalty

How is the system meant to work? I got the 1h ban as first timeout, but based on the replies that sounds not right. And this period will never reset, so by a next crash, it will be an even longer timeout?

If you would have allowed all maps and all players you would not wait 5 hours.

Obviously if you ban all maps and allow only 4 players to play you sure you wait.
But now in match making if nobody in your Elo range is online you get a 1600 on migration. I prefer not playing at all than this.

5 hours was an example, however I remember days on Voobly when Edie/Keif were hosting Arena 2k2+ lobbies for 5-6 hours without finding a game. Yes, it's an extreme example as those were very high rated players and specific map. My situation was different, therefore I think 30 min waiting on average for game is a fair estimate.

However, I still didn't get most of the complaints. Most of the community are Arabia players and they will get Arabia at least 8/10 games regardless of the map pool and with waiting time of few mins. If you don't want to play way lower rated players (which is literally the case only for the top 1000 players), you can host lobby games or you can cancel queue after 6-7 mins and start new one.

If you want to play mix of other maps, this is a really good system for you.

If you want to play Arena or water maps exclusively, it's not the best system, but you're not getting much less of your favorite map in the end, however instead of waiting for games, you can play different maps. Personal preference.

Regarding TGs, dodge penalty was a huge improvement. I don't mind any map from the TG map pool, but instead of waiting 30 mins for the game while getting dodged 5x times before finding one, now we wait 5 mins.

The penalty for queue dodging has been a life saver. I never ban any maps and typically waited 7-8hrs per game in ranked. Now since the update it’s down to 1-3mins - much better.

Maybe you should have klicked on the mm queue button instead of just looking at your monitor. Then you wouldn't have to wait 8 hours per game mate.

I could have - but then I would of missed out on all the times the pixels started talking to me.

Seems like it isnt working as intended if your first timeout is 1h... Hopefully the devs will read this as well and will fix this issue.

I have nothing against these timeouts, to punish the dodgers and take care of people with potato PCs, but 1h as first timeout seems like a mistake from the game. At least that is my conclusion based on other posts in this thread.

I haven't played for a while but from memory it was a scaling penalty, something like 5, 15 mins, then into 1 hour and longer.

However sometimes I crashed and was able to re-queue again with no penalty so not sure what that's about.

1: Nothing
2: 4 min
3: 8 min
4: 30 min
5: 1 hour
6: 2 hours
7: 4 hours
8: I will know soon :D

Shouldn't these timeouts be based on your session? For example, I got 4 hr timeout today with my last timeout being 3-4 days ago. I don't understand this logic.

If you don’t mind the elo loss or are clearly just losing or whatever, just get defeated by Gaia player (boars, wolves), you don’t get the que ban then. As in delete everything else but one unit and aggro boar, that’s the easiest, no need to wait till 5min.

That also doesn't work either, you have to wait min 5 to leave with no penalty other than ur angry teammates filling a pointless report.

Except it doesn't work like that. I went for no penalty at all to a long penalty. That's why I made this thread. Something seems bugged.

The problem is they implemented two fixes at once:
If your opponent (or teammate) dodges you stay in the queue
If you dodge you get a timeout

The first fix was potentially enough to fix the problem for the majority of players, however, due to them implementing both of them at once we don’t know.

Now we are stuck waiting five minutes in team games where team mate instantly disconnects before resigning so as to not get a timeout.

I would suggest that players who want to play unpopular maps wait 30 minutes in queue

The issue here isn´t alt+f4 but the map pools and amount of map bans. You should be able to ban all maps but one. If you only enjoy playing Arabia, you should be able to play Arabia and not Migration or vice versa. Yes, the queue time might be longer for some maps but in that case everyone has a choice to add more maps to make the queue shorter. For me personally, I rather wait 10 min queue to have a good map and a good game than playing Team Island in pain for 35min. I really don´t see how the penatly is justified here.

What a sad conclusion, as if only your time matters. If you are a tiny bit honest you would say it's the devs fault for causing this situation and wasting everyones time by not matching likeminded players. Unless you think your preferences are more important than those of another ofcourse. The moment they made that system it became a problem for everyone, focus on the real problem.
