Queue dodging penalty

What's up wit the queue dodging penalty? My game crashed and now i got punished with a 1h ban? So i got punished for the devs dont making the game stable? What kind of joke is this?! Who decided to add these penalties to the game?

Is there some summary of these weird bans you can get in this game?

It was the right answer to hundreds of arabia tryhards, who left the game immediately if any other map would come up. Also, my game never crashed so far, so maybe you should look into your pc first, instead of blaming the devs.

If you include matchmaking, you have to include penalty, or people will abuse it for their own selfinterest. It's a general rule.

na man that penalty is totally stupid. We payed for a game and want to enjoy and not play maps we done like. Now you have to ban Arabia if you don’t want to play it and then you get always 4 lakes or some other boring trash. Instead of wasting your time waiting in the queue you now waste your time playing maps you don’t enjoy or you waste your time waiting that the penalty is over.

People still play the map they like. Now you just wait additional 5 mins before you quit the game instead of immidiate alt+F4 earlier

It's only this game for me. And it wont happen too frequently. But once in a while it crashes...

Instead of wasting your time waiting in the queue you now waste your time playing maps you don’t enjoy or you waste your time waiting that the penalty is over.

you don't need to waste time either way, just resign after 5 mins and no penalty

Adding the dodge penalty was subjectively the best feature devs added into the game since DE release. I remember queuing during RBW V when top 14 players didn't play ladder games and activity was lower overall + there was a map pool with migration, Arena and some other non-ara maps.. Out of 4 hours spending 3 in the queue (10+ dodges on in a row on average) and 1 playing.. Yeah, that was awesome.

We also had lobby system on Voobly, remember? On high level, you waited 30+ min on average for the game (not talking about Arena, where you could wait for 5 hours and not getting any game sometimes...).

Afterall, if you want to play Arabia, you'll get it most of the time anyways - just with few mins of queuing. If you don't want to play Arabia almost every game, you have to ban it. Given that Arena is also mostly banned by opponent, you'll end up playing water maps, nomad, four lakes. If you actually invest your time to play those maps and learn them, you'll realize that many of them are unique, different and very fun to play. However, I guess for most people it's far more convenient to only stuck to 1 map, 1 meta, dodge and cry about devs.

And regarding the original topic. Sure it sux your game crashes and you even get penalty for it, but if the game runs well for 99% of the players, maybe the issue isn't the game actually...

“30+ min” sounds generously worded honestly. If 22+ players weren’t in the EU or Asia timezone, it was pretty much impossible to get a game 11. Could be a 1-2 hour wait easily unless you lowered rating requirement by 200 pts or so. Always had to sacrifice sleep to get games. Tough days.

I have been banned 3 times already in the last month because my aoe crashed when I found a game 11

He is an arena clown, in voobly no one really wanted to play that other than clowns, so his waiting time was real but it was fair, now he is really happy cause he can play arena twice as often vs non arena players and squish their puntos.

He and other minorities are the real winners, the system on DE was made for them, so they will defend it to death despite such system affects a larger segment of the player base.

DE created the alt-f4 issues in the first place. Ofcourse outright ignoring player preferences and punishing dodgers will be effective in reducing alt-f4. Looking at the punishments from a self centered perspective and calling them good simply disregards the opinions of others and the problem gets shifted. Reducing alt-f4 should not even be the focus but rather the effect of a proper system which respects the players need

How hard is it to understand that people have different interests and levels of commitment? Not understanding why people play only a limited amount of maps indictates being willfully ignorant of the complex nature of the game, it should not be a surprise when there is random map gen, 37 civs and the average player can barely manage to play the game anyways.

Because wanting control over maps implies playing only one map... right? ....No.

It's exhausting to endlessly have to read these silly and false arguments made by those who support the current system. It's behavior like this which creates a divide in the community.

What gets to me is you understand the severity (you complain you had to face dodgers 10x in a row) but then being content with a measurement because it benefits yourself with complete disregard of how it impacts those others. If you appreciate the punishment because it reduces dodging, then you would appreciate opt-in even more since it will be more effective. There is nothing great about the punishment, rather it is the devs ignoring the root problem and digging themselves deeper.

And if you really crash enough to get 1-hour bans well it's good that the game prevents wood pcs from playing

I didnt faced smaller timeouts. So if 1h isnt meant to be the first timeout penalty, then the system is bugged. It is not like the game is crashing all the time, but once in a while it crashes. It might be once a month or even more rare.

And regarding the original topic. Sure it sux your game crashes and you even get penalty for it, but if the game runs well for 99% of the players, maybe the issue isn't the game actually...

If you would have allowed all maps and all players you would not wait 5 hours.

Obviously if you ban all maps and allow only 4 players to play you sure you wait.
But now in match making if nobody in your Elo range is online you get a 1600 on migration. I prefer not playing at all than this.

Adding a penalty for queue dodging while not doing anything against people quiting out of games was... to say it nicely, really fkn stupid. Really weird balance.

You would expect a game whose devs claim they were esports to have anything in place to prevent elo tanking, rage quiting, boosting, or at least have a working elo system in place 2 years after release.

They only do as much as it takes to impress people that are already on copium.
If there are really people out there that believe that the queue dodging penalty by itself is a meaningful solution to any problem, or if there are still people who believe that these things take a lot of effort from a gaming studio making such a successful game, then you should actually get your heads checked.

You really notice that some people need to go outside again after 2 years of covid to get realligned with reality.

I had my game crash for the first time ever whole queuing the other day and I was FURIOUS that they didn't give me a one hour ban, instead they just let me immediately queue up again. WTF Bill Gates/Cysion

The penalty for queue dodging has been a life saver. I never ban any maps and typically waited 7-8hrs per game in ranked. Now since the update it’s down to 1-3mins - much better.

Is it not the main issue that these penalties dont reset after certain amount of time? Crashes can always happen regardless on how good your set up is. The issue is that the timer doesnt reset by one stage when you played ... idk 10 games without dodging.

It does reset entirely on weekly basis AFAIK.
