Proper fire galley hotkey

Hi

my hotkey to produce a fire galley is W. however, for it to work i always have to manually click to the next page of units in the dock. i have seen in pro player streams that they dont have to click this manually, which is much better ofc. i never cared too much about water hotkeys before DE...

How does it work? can someone help?

Cant you just change the hotkey for fire galleys? You can custumize all hotkeys.

My hotkey is U and I don't have to change page, it'll automatically queue the fire galley even if I'm on the first page of the dock.
Make sure that you don't have anything on the first page that's bound to W, might be the issue

Sounds like a hotkey conflict. The game gives higher priority to hotkeys/buttons when they display on the bottom panel (which is something I sometimes use to my advantage in the case of building hotkeys, to have for example, Q as both build barracks and go to barracks - which works since I use military build for my build hotkey.)

change the hotkey to whatever you want

if u are using the default grid hotkeys, then probably the transport ship hotkey is interfering with fire ship hotkey? then just change ur transport ship hotkey to something else, any letter you want, as long as its not conflicting, and u can keep the fire ship at W. U can also remove some technology hotkeys as those are not very important, and use those for some ship instead.

Indeed, try changing your "got to blacksmith" hotkey and see if it works.
If it still doesn't work, I suggest trying to make sure there is no colliding hotkeys between the first page and the second page of the dock at all (not just W)

I changed mine to [w] for fire galley and [shift]+[w] for transport ship which I find works well... When I need to make a transport ship it's a more considered decision than quickly spamming fire galleys lol

Yes! Same thing happened to me, here's how I fixed it. Basically your hotkeys on first panel CAN share key with "Go to" type Hotkeys. However this is not the case for 2nd panel, where if hotkeys share the key with a "Go to" type hotkey a conflict appears where the "Go to" hotkey wins. Solution is simple, make sure your second panel hotkeys don't match any of your "Go to" hotkeys.

Worth nothing that userpatch/voobly had a setting in the options called "More hotkeys - priority" where u could set the 2nd page hotkeys to take priority over the go-to hotkeys.

Although I never used it since my unit creation was always different hks from the building go-to's, but it was nice knowing that it existed for people who want to use the same letters for unit create and building go-tos.
