AOE-IV Predictions for the first AoE4 tournament: Genesis?

Who do you think will do well in the first AoE4 tournament: Genesis?

This topic is not about complaints regarding who had more time to practice, but simply about the chances of different players we know will participate. I haven't been able to follow many AoE4 streams so far, so I don't know how the different players are currently performing.

Who is doing best atm? How do players from the following games currently fare? Who has the best performance right now?

- AoE2
- AoE3
- AoE
- AoEO?
- SC2?
- others?

I’ve mostly seen Viper play, and he seems very motivated and a few games looked very sharp and convincing, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him do well

Just really have to wait and see, its hard to get much information outside of watching actual match up streams.

The ladder is a complete mess, you already have people smurfing new accounts to try get higher ranking because early placement matches catapult your elo massively if you hold a win streak.

I think the question is how many AoE2 experts will be in the main event (top 8)?. It could be none or several. Its really hard to tell.

Probably Age of Mythology/Empires III players will do well, the game is more similar to those and they are hungry for a new game to get into more so than AoC players who still have KotD to worry about. But I guess it might just be about who discovers a busted strat first, there are some players practicing off-stream grunt style.

Funnily enough, Aoe3 players claim the game is more similar to aoe2.

It does have some elements from both, but I think it is way closer to aoe2 overall (disregarding obvious things like the timeframe):
- drop-off points
- no batch training, no shipment mechanic
- way more macro-oriented than aoe3
- more more mid/late game focus than aoe3 (most aoe3 games last 7-12, maybe 15 minutes and never go to age4)

I know it e.g. has different micro from aoe2, the civs are more unique and such, but overall it prolly plays closer to age2 than age3.
