Ok I stand corrected. Did some testing and apparently host scout can be blocked, I'm just a nub.

I think stopping the lame got harder in DE though. I guess we will find out in KOTD if thats the case.Ok I stand corrected. Did some testing and apparently host scout can be blocked, I'm just a nub.

You're probably right. But I was wondering if pros have explored it enough. It seems clear already that this is the case?
It would be interesting to see a comparison. You're probably right. But I was wondering if pros have explored it enough.
I felt like that a lame in boa2 never was blocked but always successful and attempts of blocking just wasted effort. You're probably right. But I was wondering if pros have explored it enough.
True. Feel like the impact will be felt more in 1v1s.I felt like that a lame in boa2 never was blocked but always successful and attempts of blocking just wasted effort.
What is the original developer's design intent with boars?
We probably can't answer that, so the next best question is: do we want this to be a feature?
Does it enhance and enrich the game? Does it improve strategic variety? Does it promote healthy competitiveness and sportmanship? is there enough room for anticipating, countering or adapting?
Personally I feel boar laming with a scout doesn't pass that line of questioning: without it, games (on all levels) will be more interesting to play, watch and cast/analyse.
It is comparable to the off-side rule in football: without this rule they would just put a few big strikers near the goal and kick the ball from one end to the other, every now and then somebody comes along and argues the rule should be removed, but the experience tells that without it, games are very lame.

Is ok, we know it. However interesting, how you talk about that laming makes dark age more interesting but as you talk about it there is no mention of comeback possibilities due to good decisions or executions. It just reads for me: I like to see people without pants trying to struggle for 30 additional minutes, throw all their plans out of the window and run after a bus they will never catch.Laming is great. I love that I can potentially put an opponent (including a pro) on edge and take a substantial risk that relies on a reasonable amount of skill to maintain the lure distance not wreck my eco in the process or lose even more scout HP, and catch them off guard. Casters have plenty to talk about -- how the person reacts and adjusts, and how the person who lamed them follows up. Do they build more army, do they wall up and fc? Without laming you might as well talk about how cool palisades, militia or man at arms look like because that's all you'll be seeing.

absolutely no sense that it was deleted precisely because they themselves had written it.Nothing will ever come close to Jibatong-Vivi drama. That was once in a lifetime occurrence.
Such a shame an admin deleted the thread, there was absolutely no disrespect (afaik) in it, everyone was having just pure fun because of such a weird experience. It was almost the definition of wholesome drama.
My very risky guess (I have no info on it) as to why it was deleted is that either Jiba or Vivi contacted an admin and asked for deletion of the thread.... out of some kind of shame I guess? It still doesn't make much sense because they created threads themselves on Chinese forums talking about it, making it sound more dramatic than it was for entertainment reasons.
While I agree that he downplays the reward/risk relation quite a bit (I trust Viper in his judgment), he's not the only one ignoring/exaggerating things here. E.g. you are talking about the failed lame saying that you can be happy when the opponent's scout chases you and sacrifices scouting intel, ignoring that you yourself sacrificed scouting intel on your own resources before so that would by no means be an advantage.how are you the only one not realizing, that laming is a low risk high reward strat? if you are found and dont feel comfortable microing while laming the boar, you can just run away. you will still delay the opponent on his scouting and his boar since he had to follow your lame to stop it. and the loss of HP is not as much of a deal as you keep trying to make it. you can still take several hits from the enemy scout and therfore can still scout the whole enemy base. if he follows your scout to even reduce your scout HP further you can even be happy, because the few extra hits you take dont really matter while he sill can not scout your base and therefore will not have any intel about your strategy/base.
so please now enlighten us all where the high risk is, that makes up for the huge reward you get when laming successfully.

I dont know who started this, Ive read some similar stuff on reddit before. Less free food is just less free food, ceteris paribus. The person who loses the boar was careless and could have defended if it was forward, or can push deer to compensate. There is plenty of risk, because unlike what people assume here that everyone laming is MBL/Viper (and even MBL takes additional hits/makes mistakes while laming occasionally,) that is simply not true.
