I don't like being an alpha tester of the new UI.
The linear wipe + fade transitions are long and terribly laggy/poorly optimized, the UI is inefficient, ugly and inconsistent (ie. ranked vs quick play) and the menus are illogical and unintuitive (took me 5 minutes to find where they had hidden the mods). Want to watch a multiplayer rec game? Single player -> Load game

DE killed anything except 1v1, I’m sad because I liked BF and also like more TG than 1v1 and now you only can play 1v1 with the maps that devs want, and don’t tell me that community vote helps when is the same maps over and over, and also what community vote is not necessarily what people want since there is many people that stopped voting because the maps are boring.
we just need rated lobbies but this sadly wont happen so for how long we will just enjoy 1v1 in super flat maps super easy to wall and basically a small variation of arabia.
I want play BF, LN, MR, and many more in TG and u know what?? I can’t because it’s laggy but mostly because people alt f4 so when they fix the lag we wont be able to play anything else than arabia.

The largest "middle of the night" aoe2 streamer (wintergaming, a SC2 caster) who had been playing age with > 1k viewers every day for the past few weeks just raged out of AoE2 because of the lag/performance issues.
I just don't get why the devs inevitably screw up the MOST IMPORTANT issue in the game: performance.
No one really cares if one civ is completely overpowered. No one really cares if there's a Battle Royale mode. No one really cares if you add a random unit like the flaming camel. People care about getting fair games, and getting a game that just... works.
The performance that we've had to endure (in team games, and now more widely) for the past YEAR is completely unacceptable.

Vikings need to lose the insta-Wheelbarrrow+Hand Cart and become like Goths and Loom; the cost still needs to be paid, but it is instantly researched. Plus, Arbalest is a big no for a civ that is supposed to thematically have kickass infantry. Give them Siege Onager, Guilds (Amber Road) and Bombard Cannon to compensate, and they should be much more in-line with what they are supposed to be.Did some already thought of, for fun, how Vikings would perform if they didn't have Arbalesters?
Would they become too underpowered? How would they compensate such a loss, without making them weird historically-wise, or OP in Castle Age?
Plate Barding Armor available? Or Siege Onager available? Or Guilds available? Or even Bombard Cannon available? (they have Elite Cannon Galleon, so the idea doesn't sound too absurd...)

I don't necessarily want to play the devil's advocate, but Japanese is a civ with great infantry (all infantry attacks 33% faster + fully upgraded Champions and Halberdiers + Samurais are quite strong), AND they do get fully upgraded Arbalesters. 7
Those of us who know AOE 2 know that it has the potential to be a TOP game worldwide. Starcraf II, League of Legend, Dota 2, nothing compares to it, for those of us who have time studying it, whether we are noobs or experts, we all share this conclusion, AOE 2 is the best strategy game in the history of video games.
Each "innovation" they make of the game does not respond at all to what makes this game great, so much energy in the royal batlle for what? To play batlle royal is fortnite, this PUGB, what are these things in AOE 2?
If it is as it is today, it is because those who took the money in tournaments, in donations and others, did not dare to say anything when it was obvious that the game was a failure. If instead of calling us haters to whom we told what was happening, they had dedicated the time to pressure those who develop the game, even not playing it, today the result would probably be different.
Exactly. Nowadays, a civ needs to have either FU arbalest or FU paladin/Cav with bonus to be viable. (I love to play anti meta civs and anti meta units, and it's no secret my favorite unit is elefantos, but this is true).
Even Vikings who have a well rounded infantry unit ( Bersekers) need to have one of those options. That's the reason why Burmese are so unpopular outside Arambai (Kudos to Jordarn, for remembering they have excellent elefantos as well). Burmese have 3 lines of units that excels: Infantry, Elephants and monks. and yet so the only viable option to them seems to be Arambai. Same reason why Indians sucks in 1v1,
Obviously this doesn't apply to meso civs, but it's pretty much a golden rule for almost every other civ i guess
