You don't have to watch aoe4 tournament just like you don't watch other redbull tournaments. also you haven't told us what "cannibalizing " means and how aoe4 would do that. This is what normal people feel about rbw. I've been put off by some of the vocal aoe2 community who do bs moves. When the news of new rbw was out, majority of reactions were

Aoe2 community: i hope its not aoe4. Its so cringe people are apparently spamming rbw discord asking for no aoe4 content.

They certainly have their reasons for wanting to expand to AoE4 (pros from other games, exciting new meta, etc.).

1. same way you don't care about street fighter you could not just care about aoe4 . what's big deal? You don't watch golden league so it's as easy to not watch aoe4 hosted by redbull too and probably you will do that.

2 &3. was it build around aoe2? Sole purpose is to promote redbull, not aoe games or aoe2. Also how does it matter even if it is build around aoe2? This "cannibalizing" doesn't change anything at all for your aoe2 nor prevent you enjoying aoe2 tournament they will have. you have no knowledge what redbull will do and it doesn't make sense(for neither aoe2 or aoe4) to have one tournament for multiple games as already discussed if you say that. Even if it did it's redbull's choice and doesn't cannibalize anything.

If they jump from one game to the other during the day, I will definitely not watch live, but only the VOD to be able to skip aoe4 I guess..

I guess if they switch between games during a day then they will stream on 2 different channels and have AoE4/2 happening at the same time for the early stages, as they did with some games at RBW5.

If they do smth. like this it would get interesting with the other streamers covering the Event, since they proly only cast aoe2.
Could lead to less ppl watching on the main-channel, to only watch aoe2.

But let's wait and see, as other's already pointed out it's proly far in the future anyway.

In general, we have to be aware of the fact that almost all big S-Tier tournaments were Microsoft funded and thereby are mainly marketing vehicles for Microsoft. Having AoE4 instead or in addition to AoE2 therefore isn’t AoE4 hijacking anything but just Microsoft changing its focus - the choice here is not between only AoE2 or AoE2 and AoE4, but rather AoE4 or nothing - and this will be the case until either a tournament scene truly independent of Microsoft is established or Microsoft focuses on AoE2 exclusively again. Let’s never forget that the reason AoE2:DE were created and all the tournaments were sponsored was to promote AoE4

That's a really good point.
Maybe they do the Group Stage Online and only 4/6 Players make it to the LAN-Final for each game and then like 2 series each AoE2 / AoE4 per Day.

Also they could add a Funday like previous NAC's had, but make it like AoE2/4-Players play 4vs4 in AoE1/AoE3/AoM to include those or smth. like that.

Except that doesn't work because it's exactly what this isn't. Like I said before, it is not charity from Microsoft or Red Bull. They do tournaments because it is in their interest, not because they love the fan base.

What constitutes "making a big deal about it", writing a post on aoezone that I won't be watching aoe4? Might as well shut down the forum if these discussions are something that shouldn't be happening. Everything written here is an opinion and personal choice after all.
