He is a tournament host but also a tournament coordinator. Nili is certainly involved because last time Microsoft sponsored the pricepool of the Red Bull Wololo events.

Part of the issues were not just the internet but also servers, AoE2 and AoE4 share servers AFAIK, so the AoE4 stress test during the red bull event was hypothesized to have had a big impact on that part. But yeah I think there also were some issues with the stream itself. Lets hope those wont come up again...

You do realise Nili himself said he had a big role in deciding/suggesting elements of Redbull tourneys right? Previously, eg, he sent a list of suggested casters to them. So stop casting aspersions on a heavily plausible suggestion

Yeah you're right, considering the last Red Bull aoe2 event had 28k average and 77k peak viewers it would only make sense for aoe2 to be the side event

don't think so as ie Jordan,Capoch and other AOE2 players dont have it yet. So far only DauT and Viper and for those one could even puzzle if due to beeing Aoe2 or 4 or Aoe player in general

AOE4 ist still boring as hell for me to watch.

Redbull is one who decides what game they want to host including if it's aoe title at all, same goes for casters. People here just cannot get enough from trying to blame nili from literally anything that is not aoe2. Can't people be just happy for redbull who has been the biggest contributor to aoe2 (and aoe2 prize pools you blame lacking ) last year being back?

The quick blurb almost seems like some sort of yawn-inducing points system across multiple games.

ie: points for AOE 1 DE, 2 DE, 4, etc.

That would be unfortunate. Hopefully not the case.

Stop cyber-bullying the tournament coordinator and sponsor by suggesting they are making poor business decisions based on strikingly obvious and openly available player activity/engagement data.

When there is a discussion of repeated direction of tournament organizations it's fairly common that a highly visible person in charge of tournament organizations would receive criticism, warranted or not.

Same thing with sponsor's. People don't owe corporations simply for sponsoring events. These corporations aren't doing this for free. Same thing with streamers. For most visible aoe2 streamers, it's a job to them. They don't do it for free. They are investing in getting you to watch, for advertisement purposes. Complete with tangible return on the investment. Maybe not today, next week, maybe a few months or a year. There is an intent to obtain a ROI, or the company would not make the investment.

There is no reason to be grateful to Emirate Airlines, coke, pepsi, goldman sach's -- for sponsoring your favorite football league team and getting their brand on the jersey. They are making a business decision to get their name out there that has a specific budget, approved by someone who probably still types with individual fingers. There is no loyalty owed, else we would all be slaves to whatever corporate fast food entity sponsored any said event.

When a sponsor invests in the type of event that RBW is, part of the advertisement value they get is to get you talking about the event. By the very nature of people discussing on these boards the format, the efficacy of the tournament -- they are in effect obtaining the intended investment of getting Red Bull into your mind consciously and subconsciously. They couldn't care less what the tournament looks like.

AOE fans, particularly AOE2 fans on this board -- might care and thus voice their opinion.

It's really not some binary thing where one can not both discuss the tournament settings and preferences and not enjoy it -- or that there be negative sentiment and a sponsor not get an intended ROI.

I'm guessing both tournaments will be broadcast at the same time. AOE2 and AOE4.
It seems unlikely that they alternate between them, but who knows.

I'd like to see one other game from the franchise get a spot in the tournament. Maybe AOM? That could help bring the game back to people's minds and build momentum for a possible 2023 release of AOM DE(a man can dream...)
