New here How would I get started playing age of empires competitively for money?

Just for warning. Playing a lot doesn't quarantee that you will become good enough to earn any money. Expect atleast 2-3 years of intense playing with 1k+ games and with talent you might get close to level needed for participating tournaments. But that just for participation to get into moneys double that time and pray you are one of those blessed with exceptional talent to the game.

So yeah, there are better ways to use your time, if you take time to put into this game as an investment.

2.3k is not even close to the actual PRO level to get invited to the tournaments, usually they only invite 2.5k, and when they invited a new 2.4k like projectbelgium he couldn't even get a game from the top 15.

You should aim to 2.5k at the very least to get invited and a get fan base, aoe 2 is not an easy game to fill ur pockets and even if you get like super good, there is one giant wall called theviper who has monopolized the big 1x1 cash tournaments for years now.

Try streaming or some other game like csgo, dota2, fornite idk.

dont play for the money, play for the fun,
but if you just want to compete with the best and the result is compteting in money tournaments, then 2.3k rating is the minimum to have a change, watch a lot of pros play (some stream alot: Mbl40c , Hera, Tatoh (twitch) and Viper (mixer)). it depends how serious you take it, some say it will only take a year of real dedication and a professional attitude to reach the top .

Well do you have any background in RTS games or similar (at a competitive level of course)? I didn't and it's a definite limiter. The gameplay itself isn't a barrier to entry, but the strategies, tactics, and decision making are all very involved.

Extremely hard, extremely stressful. One small mistake and you can die afterwards, that kind of stressful. Unless you're a teen with a lot of free time (which it seems you aren't) or a university student with some time, I'm with Mbl in the sense its not worth it. You'll put in so much to not get back enough imo.

I'm with some others that you should just play for fun with idea of becoming good, not to win money. I wouldn't survive in California if I tried to play tourneys in aoc alone for that reason.

Just start playing, practice a lot. Watch streams and recorded games of expert players and understand what they do. Rewatch your own games and understand why they turned out the way they did. Practice more. Don’t do it because you want to earn money, do it because you enjoy the game. And if you want to earn money, streaming is probably the faster way to make money, if you are up for it
