What if, next to Battle Royale, Regicide, Sudden Death, Capture the Relic and Empire Wars we could add a new "Setting" called "Borderless".

In this game mode any Units on the furthest tile on one edge are automatically teleported to the opposite edge, to prevent them from immediately teleporting back they need to face in that direction. Units have 16 Rotations, 8 Tp you back and 8 don't.

TLDR: Units TP from Northwest to SouthEast and vise versa and from Norteast to Southwest if they go to the furthest tile

If Microsoft is in on it they could code it that LOS, Projectiles, and everything else gets also teleported. As if there is no Border and the map is like normal

I've fantasized about this for many years and in the past I pitched the idea to some casters. I would love to see it happen. I always called it "Earth is round" mod, in opposition to the current aoe2 Earth which seems flat.

I don't like the part you mention of having a limit amount of times you can teleport. I don't think it would add anything except frustration.

I missunderstood you, my bad. All the power to this mod :smile: Although we probably won't get to see it realized, flat earthers are plenty.

that's not historically accurate though, earth was flat in the middle ages. Round earth was invented much later

It's real easy. Go to steam -> library -> find aoe2 de and uninstall. It's quite great. Then you'll most likely stop posting your dumb ideas and complaining about the game!

I can't agree with a lot of what Deathcounter says tbh, but why is this such a dumb idea? I think it'd make for a fun gamemode. Way harder to pay attention from where the enemy will come from and might make some possibilities for surprise attack from across the map.

All of a sudden you wanna spawn far from the edge and not by the edge:smile:.

Id never touch this though, due to balancing issues.

Also:
I wonder how many bugs normal games would suffer that would come from implementing this.

I dont think the devs needs to change or add 100 things a month, especially at the cost of game stability. As I keep saying, fix the game first, then consider some improvments/changes. Voobly kept the game alive for 20 years with a few changes (most of them just focused on improving game stability). Thats more than what we can say for almost any other old game ever made. And thats with **** graphics and bad lag issues.

Microsoft just needs to stabalize and advertise this game, and it will grow faster than you know.

New players leave due to unstability, drops and high queue times. Not cus we dont have a 15th game mode.
Fix the first 2, and the 3rd will fix itself, and it will snowball itself from there.@Microsoft

Yes, it will probably introduce thousands of bugs, so in that regard I'd rather have Microsoft spend their resources wiser for more stability. I don't say I'd like that microsoft inserts this idea because I think priorities should be elsewhere. However, that doesn't mean that the idea is bad in itself. It does sound like a fun game mode, you're never really save since you can always get attacked from all sides!

It seems more like the good old "let's gang up on the guy that everyone is hating nowadays".
This potential mod/mode is what it is, a derpy concept that would be fun to see how it turns out. It is not trying to substitute normal aoe2 nor is it really attempting anything except exploring a new idea.

This would only work if they completely remake maps to be continuous. So there is no black edge to the map. Im sayibg that because i can imagine how bad it must feel to micro units near the edge of the map and scroll all the way to the other side.

Im not sure if there are any RTS (or any game at all) that have a continuous worlds, but I guess it would mean youd have a minimap that autocenters on your location, and if you move your mouse constantly to the right youll eventually end up where you was before.

Technically this should be pretty easy if you build the game with it in mind. Just make sure the shown coordinates loop around on both axes instead of showing black.

Main usability issue arrives when the map is smaller than your screen. it forces you to repeat stuff which looks very weird...

Now that I think of it. All of a sudden both pockets would then be flanks, deleting backwalls in Arena would be instant defeat and winning your 1v1 in a 4v4 TG means nothing when the enemy flank on the other side pays you a visit. BF occasionally becomes chaotic and four lakes would become one 11

There's a lot of crazy stuff that would happen and I reckon it would take players a while to recognize how different everything would be.

The sad thing is that actually is historically accurate. Medieval people's took is as a fact that the Earth was round and even calculated it's circumference to a surprisingly accurate degree. For this reason, early explorers knew they'd hit "India" if they sailed west from Europe.
