Sounds amazing. Finally we get some fighting through ages again, Fun. Puts a smile to my face, as it does for Zuppi.
Oh, I'm not crying -- folks got exactly what they want. Hope they enjoy!
The balance is definitely five hundred times now in favor of drush/m@a/scrush builds, so,if folks don't like it all they have to do is wait until that gets old and people call for the pendulum to swing in the other direction. People act like this has never happened in AOE before.
There is now literally zero reason not to spam army in dark and feudal age, since you will all but certainly lose if you choose virtually any other now non-viable strategy based on the map generations I've seen.
Had the same in mind. Would be actually perfect to have both.Green arabia would be a nice addition to the 1v1/TG pool.
This is basically a game made so every 1500 who likes to hide in a wall and drink coffee can feel like a good player.
who's great idea was it to move all the wood, stone and gold in the game within 3 tiles of starting tc's and then placing that tc into the corner of the map? please please tell me, I don't wana hurt him I just wana talk.
Eh, I'm okay w/ 1500 on a map/playstyle that doesn't suit my strengths.
Still better than most.
I would certainly like for there to be an ability to punish yolo-aggressive play, because it's entertaining watching someone's build they copied from a pro get de-railed when it can't do damage. The only defense available shouldn't just be to make army, but, given the wall lengths and map generation I've seen -- it pretty much is on this new arabia!
We'll all adapt somehow!
Haven't played it yet, but assuming it is similar to KotD's map, my concern is that such open maps will cause people to stop going random civs.
During tournaments where you draft your civs, you will obviously only pick S-tier civs so this is not a problem. But in rated games, if you consistently get very open map generations, any civ mismatch will result in an auto civ win because you just have no way to stop a faster civ with an inferior one if you can't wall.
Hope I'm wrong though!
I agree. By scouting and reacting properly, with some (but not full) walls, you can definitely cost-effectively stop many yolo pushes on an open map, which is an essential skill and fun aspect of open land map. It feels incredibly frustrating that the only ways to match drush fc in green Arabia are your own drush fc, wall fc or yolo maa tower. It’s so stale comparing to a fuller feudal age where you have to constantly micro and change your unit composition to adapt.I would certainly like for there to be an ability to punish walling-boom play, because it's entertaining watching someone's build they copied from a pro get de-railed when it can't defend from a push. The only way to play available shouldn't just be to sit behind walls, but given the forests lengths and map generation I've seen- it pretty much was on that old Arabia!
Seriously now, yolo-agressive play on open maps is WAY more risky than walling on closed maps. I do think closed maps have their place in the game, but the best versions of Arabia are the ones that make feudal age play more decisive(this doesn't necessarily mean full-feudal or yolo-agression).
I think it's quite the opposite. Open maps give more chances to create imbalance. Also civ advantages are not that as decisive in Feudal Age(Britons still have an advantage over Turks in Feudal Age, but it is not as much as it is in Castle Age and early Imperial). If the new Arabia version is that open as some are saying, I think(and hope) players will not be that afraid to go random civs.
who are you playing that goes for random civ??my concern is that such open maps will cause people to stop going random civs.
All I know is everyone is banning arabia now .
Step one: as you read a post that you would like to reply to, you hit the "Quote" button. It's right next to the "Like" button. And no, I don't know how to use the multi-quote function -- and haven't learned yet, so why start now ?
I pick my civ every game but go random if the opponent does as well, which actually is a good portion of the time.who are you playing that goes for random civ??
