It's a good decision imo. I was surprised Robo wasn't the official tournament organizer all this time. He's been in charge of so many tournaments over the years, perfect man for the job.

Anyway went on official discord to look robo's roles: and found he has second discord account listed as FE staff but his account description doesn't state what he does at FE, i just assumed

Robo has had a questionable behavior before, such role is an important stuff, if some community wants to make an event but if it is on robo's black list, then that event is not going to happen with MS funding, i would like to see someone that doesn't take personal grudges on such position.

I don't remember which event that could be, but it would be worth it that the tournament coordinator does the coordination (talking to Microsoft/FE/Relic and tournament hosts), working on a tournament coordinator, manages the prize pools (to a degree), but still have some other people give him feedback what events people want.
Robo is or has been relatively active on AoEZone and on Discord (don't know on other sites like Reddit, Twitter, etc.) and he has asked questions about seeding methods, map pools, and more during the years, so I definitely feel that he is open for discussion. Whether there is any tournament type he strictly excludes, I don't know.

I think he is one of the few suited people for this position, so I am happy if he takes the job again.
What I hope for are:

• Some clear instructions for what is requested when applying for funding:
  • In 2021-22 we had some conflicting statements, e. g. whether 2 tournaments which are Microsoft-funded can overlap, whether a contribution to funds from an additional source is required, whether you need a streamer as host...
  • What kinds of tournaments can be funded? For example, can it also be $1k or $2k prize pool tournaments or only $10k+? Can it be weekly/bi-weekly/monthly series?
• An updated tournament calendar, could be 2 versions:
  • One that potentially has more details and is frequently updated and confidentally accessible for tournament organisers.
  • One that players and everybody can see, not with tournament names/structure/hosts, but which covers weeks and says something like "S tier RM 1v1 tournament", with that information available as long as possible before (2-3-4 weeks? Or more if tournament hosts can and wish to provide it).
• Probably not the tournament coordinators job, but something that has been discussed:
  • A connection between sponsors and tournament hosts. Someone who is employed at FE and already knows a lot of important people might be trusted more by potential sponsors and in case of robo know most of the tournament hosts as well, so forwarding sponsors to tournament hosts would be very good. I am not talking about $10k+ sponsorships. But I would believe contributing a few $100 or so to an event and then being included in the tournament name and/or displayed on the stream to 5-10k+ viewers during later stages of the tournament can already be attractive.
  • (Probably to be discussed in detail at a different place, but I feel it is something that should be worked on to have something that is between the categories of big events like RBW/KotD, events that 100 % rely on Microsoft-funding like RMSC 2/TTL, and events that are from 100 % community donations like Wallhalla, Terra Nova Duos and almost all C-A tier tournaments.)

He is relative active on reddit, not too much on twitter, but might change if he's at MS once again.

And agree, I feel that robo is definitely more open to settings than a certain other organizer aoe2 had, we'll see if there will be a noticeable change (I'm not sure how much we can know about the MS involvement in the process vs the organizer's arguments).
