Welcome, chart, and congratulations for reaching 2k4 recently - the first Japanese player to do so on Voobly. A few years ago, people considered Chocobo to be the best Japanese 1v1 player, now last and this year it’s obviously you, let’s talk about your development and future.
How old are you and since when do you play Age of Empires 2, have you played Age of Empires 1/3? What are your expectations and wishes for AoE 4? If you could add one thing from AoE 1 and one from 3 to add to AoE 2, what would it be?
I am 22 years old. I started to play this game in 2014. I also played AoE 3, but have never played online. Probably I have played AoE 3 for 3-4 months. But only played campaign.
And I have never played AoE.
My expectations for AoE 4 are that it isn’t futuristic. I like the battle of the Middle Ages.
I almost forgot about AoE 3 and never played AoE, so I don’t know what I’d add to AoE 2.
So how did you get into AoE 2 in 2014? A lot of players did when the game was newer and are now around 30 years old already or got interested when the HD edition was released.
My cousins were playing AoE 2. So I was interested in their playing and bought the HD edition.
For the upcoming AoE 2 Definitive Edition, what are your hopes? Did you play in the beta? How do you think it will be received in Japan?
My hope is that AoE 2 DE is better than Voobly. Lag, operation, AI movement and so on... Now Voobly is the best place to play, so I hope DE gets over it. I did not play the beta. In Japan most players are playing on Steam and are not good at accommodating to the new surroundings. So they are interested in DE but I don’t know whether they will play it or not.
You have reached 2k4 on the RM 1v1 ladder. What changed in the last months and year that made you improve and constantly be at 2k3+ level? Also, what do you think are you missing to reach 2k5?
I am aware of not stopping to create villagers. I am often behind vill count in Feudal and Castle Age compared with top players. And now I am especially careful in Feudal and Castle Age. Actually I have a lot of points to be improved. I think I have to do map control to reach 2k5.
You did not participate in many 1v1 tournaments so far? Why? And after reaching such a high 1v1 level, will it change in the future?
Actually I was not interested in participating in tournaments, because my level was far behind top players. So I did not want to show my ungainly playing. But I recently changed my mind to join the tournaments. I will take part in it as hard as I can.
How would you describe your playstyle and how much has it changed since you became an experienced player?
My playstyle is defensive. I’m not good at aggressive playing.

I live in Kyoto. I like that there are a lot of delicious things and many tourist places. I would like to move to Fukuoka if I cloud. It is famous for Tonkotu Ramen.

For every country that is far away and different a lot of information people obtain is via media (internet, TV, movies etc.). 2 popular things everybody connects with Japan are manga and Pokémon? What are your thoughts about these? Do you actually meet people in costumes on the street or are those just rare very special events?
I wanna tell readers 2 things that are good and bad. The good thing is that Japanese food is so delicious! The bad thing is that in summer Japan recently has been muggy. So if u come to Japan in summer, please care of heatstroke. Maybe it is right that everybody connects with Japan are manga and Pokémon, a lot of Japanese including me are playing Pokémon and watch or read anime and manga. I have never met people in costumes. So I think it is rare.
What are your favourite Pokémon?
To tell the truth, I don’t know well about Pokémon. But I like Pikachu.

a) What is your favourite food and drink?
My favourite food is sushi which is Japanese traditional cuisine and drink is Ginger Ale.

Which foods from your home country/region and family background would you recommend?
I would recommend sushi and ramen! These foods are so delicious. Ifyo u guys come to Japan , I recommend those.
What can you cook well yourself and how often do you do it?
I can cook hamburgers and rice 2-3 times a week.
What would you put on top of a pizza?
Cheese, some seafood and vegetables.
b) What is your favourite colour? (Does not need to be one of the 8 AoE II colours.)
My favorite colour is green. So I always pick it .
c) What is your favourite animal?
My favorite animals are dogs, especially Shiba Inu which is very cute.
d) What/where is your favourite place on Earth?
Kyoto, I love this city. I have lived in this city for 4 years, I like it. But I have to move next year because I will start working, so sad

I don’t have favourite sports team, but I have favourite pro runner, who is Usain Bolt <3.
A shame he retired already. Next year there are Summer Olympics in Japan. Probably it is expensive to go and watch yourself in the stadiums, but are you looking forward to it?
Yeah, I am still missing him, and hope he comes back as a World Athletics caster.

h) What are your favourite traits on a woman?
Kindness.
What time do you usually go to sleep? What do you like doing before sleeping?
I usually go to bed at 1-3 am. I like watching Twitch or Youtube before sleeping.
Did you already finish university? Because you said you will move when you start working next year. If not, don’t you have morning classes?
I didn’t finish university, am still in the study. But I already finished the classes. So I just wait for the graduation ceremony. In Japan maybe the university system is different.
I studied mostly in Germany. When each semester starts/ends is different in different countries. I never had any graduation ceremony, I just received the certificate via mail around 2 months after my last exam. But “next year” is in 2.5 months. Here a university student would not stay in the university city after the last classes unless (s)he has a job there already. While waiting for the first job to start it is common to either go to your parents or travel.
Which countries have you visited?
I have never visited other countries. But I wanna visit somewhere.
And where would you like to go to? Why?
I would like to go to Taiwan, because Taiwan is close to japan and I wanna eat food there.
I would like to go there too. As you also are interested in Chinese language/culture, I heard that there is more old culture left than on the mainland.
Which languages can you speak and which would you like to learn?
I can speak English and a little Chinese. I studied Chinese at university so I just understand a little.
So you have some knowledge about Japanese and Chinise culture. Obviously between politicians there is still a serious conflict between China and Japan, while for most of the population there isn’t. One thing still remains, Japanese are very often publicly displayed as villains in Chinese media and events. Not only movies, but even kindergarten children playing that they shoot and kill Japanese. I don’t want to discuss politics and responsibilities, but do you have any thoughts on that?
This is a hard question for me, I feel sad about it. But I really don’t care because I have some Chinese friends at university and have a good time to spend with them. And they like Japanese manga and anime. I believe that there is no one who hates japanese in a true sense.
I agree from my personal experience with adults. Still I hope that it will change, because for the children it is not good and can still lead to bad incidents if Japanese travel in China, because the children don’t even know that they do something wrong. They say that they hate Japanese without even knowing how and why.
What are your hobbies beside AoE?
Running. Actually when I was a high school student, I joined track and field club and my 100 m time was 10”77.
Who would you like to meet once, who you have not met? One AoE player and one other person.
I wanna meet cloud ! And I wanna meet Hamabe Minami who is a Japanese actress <3.
Do you have an AoE idol?
Yes, I have. My idol is dogao.
Going back to my first time reaching 2k, I lost my motivation because all other Japanese players don’t play 1v1 seriously on Voobly. At that time, I fought dogao’s smurf and was shocked of his strength, and also got back my motivation to get the strength like him.
What do you think about Halen’s short comeback in May? How was it received in Japan? Anything worth mentioning he said?
I think his comeback had a huge impact on all AoE 2 players. Japanese players are also excited and hoped he would keep playing, but unfortunately the tournament ended with that, he also stopped playing. He didn’t say anything worth mentioning, however his playing especially in Imperial Age was awesome! I liked it when I played with him. It was valuable for me to play with the legend player Halen.
What is your favourite civilisation, map and unit?
My favourite civ are Huns, map is Arabia, and unit is Paladin!
What is your favourite in-game sound?
14 is my favourite in-game sound.
Do you have it in Japanese or English? If Japanese?
14 in English is my favourite. I don’t like 14 in Japanese, 11.
Who is your favourite and least favourite 1v1 opponent?
My favourite is dogao and least is StrayDog.
How is the situation with Alliance at the moment? They did not reach top 8 in the ECL, but the team still exists on Voobly. Are you growing together as a team for upcoming tournaments or do you think you will more likely play with a different team?
Yeah, we did not reach top 8 , but almost all members still play. And we wanna grow together as Alliance team.

Me, Chocobo, komtan, May, balalaika, noboru. This is based on Arabia 1v1 skills and recently active players, if based on Nomad, Arena, and other maps not this. I can’t add any more.
Which 5 players from your country do you think will form the A team in the upcoming Nations? Which maps would you like to be included apart from Arabia, Nomad, Islands? Would you prefer the Nations Cup to be on Voobly or on the new Definitive Edition?
In Japan there are not many active players, so we will form the A team: Me, Chocobo, komtan, and may also mainly play. We would like to play land maps like Arabia. We are not good at swimming.
We prefer to play on Voobly. I hear that we need high quality pc to play DE and the spec overlay is better to watch.
Which 4 players would you like to see forming a team? (can include inactive players)
TheMax, Yo, Liereyy and TheViper.
Although more realistic than some other suggestions, I can only see this if DauT retires, Yo moves to Europe and Liereyy earns a lot of money from it.

One Japanese player did TC rush, but he didn’t know how to do it, so he didn’t take wood xd.

too many mistakes from ACCM in tough TN more than any random game ever happen, wtf i thought ACCm could have won with any civ or any strat, when u know u better u shouldnt take any risk, just play more defendsive
