I guess as we are giving out special hugs I will give out my special hug to the admin who paid for what seems like at least two plane tickets when they were not involved at all in the confusion - and I have seen no public thanks from anyone who benefited from this person giving up their savings.

Admins said it was an issue on both sides. I was shown proof it was an issue on both sides, I made my point. And it still stands, given you are still maintaining the admins lied, yet a large proportion of the funds that got you to the LAN in the end came from the admins it seems a bit hyprocritical for you to bring this up in this thread.

Carlini, 2000 came from no admin but from previous tournament donations ?, big thank to robo who paid I think like. 1000$ but the other half are from Brazil b who didn’t do mistake and still paid arround 3200$. Your prof is just a quote from admi( but who made the mistak are from admin even if it’s not robo). Its fine if you didn’t want help for make this final happend just don’t put the fault on people it’s not their fault and there is no problem in making a mistake I proved two side say the mistake came from one side.

Good games guys, I enjoyed the final even if I felt both teams have been performing stronger at earlier stages during the tournament. But that's the issue with having 2 months between the losers bracket final and the grand final. Congrats to Brazil B who has looked incredibly dominant the whole tournament (Dogao is a monster but all the teamplay has been amazing to witness) and to Finland for their impressive performance.

Without them, none of that would have been possible. Forget about the players, these guys are the true heroes of the 2017 SY Nations Cup without a doubt. Firstly I would like to thank you everyone who made this tournament possible and congratulate Brazil B for winning Nations cup 2017. Big thanks for Sponsor and Paladin and for all who were willing to invest to get us 2 teams to China. Special thanks to the Chinese LAN-organizers + AOC community for the warm welcoming. Playing on the LAN itself was an amazing experience apart from many drops. I met so many amazing people. It really surprised me to see so many AOC fans there wanting to take photos with us. Not to mention signing of T-Shirts :lol:

Its useless to speculate about the settings. Brazil B won 3 games that were set maps on the settings. We had all the chances to win those games but they just played better. They already showed their good preparedness in the first arabia with super aggressive strategy. Its not a surprise that they won every Arabia game in this tournament.

I really hope there will be same kind of events in the future.

Dude, with all respect, do you read properly? The complaining WAS NOT because Carlini didn't sponsor Brazil B to get to China. There are many persons who wrongly blame sponsors when they don't help a specific, but this is not the case. The fact Carlini gives his money to make tournaments happen is great, but that doesn't allow him to spread lies. I have no idea who's right, but in case Miguel said the truth, he shouldn't be blamed for his reaction. After all, Carlini could have scared investors.

I was aware who made the majority of this donation, how much it was and wanted to thank them even though they seemed to be remaining anonymous. It was incredibly selfless, they were not involved in anyway in the issues we saw and even if it wasn’t going public I wanted to express my gratitude.

Finally my final post on the thread.

You will notice what I have done here is read the admins post, Dogao’s post, gone off to see the other side of the story and come back.

I had a few issues with the way everything was done but I didn’t feel the need to voice them given that it is obviously a stressful time - taking time off work, planning ahead what you would need, getting visas, maybe even making good with the OH so that you can go on this trip in the first place. But given people feel the need to take shots, I guess I will voice them.

Why is Edie posting this? It just really shows the lack of communication which is the original issue anyway. We are a small community, and quite a trusting community, so I don’t think it crossed too many peoples mind but what you have posted is basically a template for a scam. It is happening heavily in the Crypto world right now. Normally a big streamer, YouTuber, maybe forum personality has been hacked. The person who takes control of their social media posts saying they have been hacked, lost everything and have set up a donation link for people who would like to help out, however this donation link is controlled by the scammer. If your AoCZone account had been hacked and a scammer had posted that donation link people wouldn’t have known it wasn't legit until DFH_Risque posted 12ish hours later. Any donations at that point would have gone directly to a scam. Now, obviously this isn’t the case, but it was poorly done anyway.

The solution I thought would have been best was one Fall suggested. I see I didn’t post that, I think I wrote a long message at one point which I then deleted because I really couldn’t be bothered with all the back and forth, especially after Edie messaged me on discord telling me he had conclusive proof it wasn’t Brazils fault in anyway and then just never sent it. Fall’s suggestion was to cut the prize pool by a %age for all prize winners to cover flights or at least some of the cost. This was the method I thought was best suited and as a matter of fact if this was followed through would have meant I would have then paid for Brazils flights to a certain % given I put up cash for the Silver League PP. So the bullshit dig found here (http://prntscr.com/h818cz) can be put to bed.

I have made no secret of the fact I do not think that the players are the most important people in the AoC community. This normally comes in the form of some kind of discussion about the growth of the game, the expansion of the game or trying to get towards Esports status, something like that. This doesn’t mean I am disrespecting the players or I don’t care about them, or I don’t want them to fly to a LAN to complete or whatever bullshit you guys think my four posts meant. Dogao is one of the reasons I got back into AoE2 again, as you can see above I don’t actually call him a liar at any point (he does however call the admins liars in not so many words). I discovered twitch and that AoC was much bigger than expected because of TyranT vs SY in China. The main people I saw at that time was primarily Nili and Robo as they were there casting the event. The person I saw most after them was Dogao as he was playing for SY but not always in the games so came onto the stream for a few discussion points, so he is one of the three reasons I came back to AoE. Quick side note, I thought it was a big shame from a viewer point of view that there wasn’t anyone there casting the event in English. I did have Paladins stream open when I was watching but it isn’t quite the same as a year ago when I was just so drawn in by the LAN.

Anyway, back to my point. I believe the most important person in a small community like this is the volunteer admin. Yes, Volunteer. They aren’t getting paid for what they are doing, they gain nothing and give so much. So many hours put in by the guys such as Robo, Limb, Pumukel , RacerFXX, Swiss and quite a few more behind the scenes (I am sure there are plenty of the Chinese guys putting in the effort too, but I just don’t know them I am afraid!). I can’t imagine they enjoy chasing me to post my recorded game in the right place or trying to tell a European team they have to schedule with an Aussie team in the next 3 days or it will be an AW. When you see an interview either on video or typed up the response is always along the lines of it is rewarding enough just to see the tournament happen. I get to see the exact same tournament happen and I am not putting any of the effort in. It is such a selfless thing to do and to me they are the MVPs of the AoE community. There will always be people to win tournaments, I do not believe there will always be people to admin them.

So to read a post that said the Admins or SY should have paid the full amount for a mistake made by a volunteer, losing their own time, probably going through a lot of stress too and having just forked out a lot of cash themselves, felt very disrespectful to me. I would say that post pissed me off. People in this world will always push for more. I often get messaged asking for money, can I sponsor this or that, the world is never satisfied.

Finally to kind of hammer the point home that the admins are the best… The person I have seen people wanting back into this community the most isn’t a player. It isn’t someone I have ever seen a post from, nor seen a rec, they left before the tournament in China which brought me to twitch. Names are always banded around, Jordan was probably the biggest player that people wanted back, well he is back now but even back then I was hearing the name Taff about 5 times more than all of the other players combined. Sounds like he was a great guy and exactly the sort of person communities need to keep going. Players will come and go and to be brutally honest can be easily replaced. Admins are much harder to replace.

Again to clarify, I never called Dogao a liar as he did with the admins. I didn’t even say that everything was the Brazilians fault which I get the feeling they thought I was saying. I think Dogao’s post after mine kind of shows this pretty well: http://prntscr.com/h81gfh

Let’s say there was a conversation between Brazil and the admins. One where Dogao stated as he did in the forum:

“ I even told you and helene it was a bad idea buying those tickets. The answer I got?
helene: those are the cheapest ones
you: this is simple, just do one eletronic authorization that is made in few mins.
me: this is not simple the way you are telling, its more complicated than that and im scared about it.”

Now going back to the screenshot I put up before Dogau made it very clear it would be 27 business days. Depending what day the conversation was on this would be roughly 38 days. He also made the point that the visa was impossible to get done in time. Now, if you know this at the point of the tickets getting booked then you don’t reply with I am scared, it isn’t that simple, you tell the admin exactly what was posted at me. Why be more forceful and obvious with me than the admin? It seems very obvious that at the point of the tickets getting booked the worries were there but the full process wasn’t known. Neither side knew the full extent of what would be needed. Are the admins supposed to be a travel agent too in their spare time? Hell, my friend who is a travel agent would have no idea about getting a visa from Brazil to Canada and then the fact that the China visa was needed first etc, he only deals with the UK.

This is a way it can be both sides fault without Brazil doing anything wrong. Did someone in the Brazil team look at the website and advise the admins it would be 17 days to get a visa at some point? Did neither side properly research the issues the Canadian visa would throw up? I just don’t believe if people knew exactly what Dogao posted a few days before the event at the point of booking the tickets, that people would even bother trying? If you did know those issues why would you post your passports for 7 days instead of using a quicker service? I used to post things to Brazil for work all the time and I could have gotten my passport there in 3 days max from the UK. Yes it costs more, but it would have been much easier to crowdsource a courier fees than to get you all entirely new flights.

It just seems to me that there was a clear breakdown in communication and a lack of understanding from both sides. Again, I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS BRAZIL B’s FAULT. I am saying it is not ONLY the admins fault. It can be peoples fault without actually doing anything wrong, it is just the way the world is.

4) We acepted takomg 50% of our prizes even when it was nor our fault. – I agree that sucks but what I think sucks more is someone forking out more than you did when it wasn’t their fault. Not taking away from you that what happened to the Brazil team wasn’t nice but you still got to experience the China Lan which I am going to bet if you had a choice between the LAN experience or the cash you gave up you would pick the LAN experience any day.

This would have been much better kept under wraps until the admins made a post, with an official Paypal link, explaining exactly where the cash would be going and how much was needed to be raised. Had that happened I honestly believe Brazil B would have kept much more of their prize money themselves. The bull in a china shop approach just really did not work.

I feel the only take away from this will be the SY sponsor will be less likely to get involved again and we may lose one of our dedicated links to the Chinese community. A pity really given I loved NC and it all ended with the winners calling me a liar eh.

About the lan, IM really impressed on how nice and kind chinese people are ! ive met some amazing people at the hotel which the lan event was happening. i took a shower everyday to the most amazing view ever and had the best time of my life!

I show huge love for admins who work for free ( we should find a way to pay them, and gameposters such as Huehue or others free helpers) even with the mistake made I really admirat theses person and the work they have done.

When I made the topic there was really very few or no hope of Brazil going China, before make it I asked if I could make this topic or if it was better if I don’t, i got answered I can,it’s too late anyway it won’t change anything there is no time.I still made it because I had hope and people had to know what was happening, if not this topic, decision would have probably been made and we would have an official post from admin on Saturday or Sunday announcing that sadly Brazil b can’t go there, and even if a lot people would have complained nothing could have changed because it would be too late. So I don’t regret at all making this topic and players from Brazil and Finland know and told me if I didn’t make this one Brazil would have not been able to come.

I want to add, English isn’t my tongue langague and sadly unlike many others mine is poor, sometimes i post smtg and people understand it wrong, because I expressed it bad, I have poor vocabulary and sometimes I post something who sound hard but I mean it differently, sorry for it.
