I don't think the invited casters need to be discussed. It is always very hard to decide on just 3 or 4. And I think a 9-day, 10-player event with some players who are good co-casters does not even need 4 casters.
What would be nice is if we now have 3-4 big LAN events per year, if at least one of the casters would be different each time, to also give some a new opportunity to prove themselves.

A lot of repetition of things that were just said. And somehow I find his "affected" voice appropriate in LOL, but posed in AGE2.
Maybe with more time to prepare this changes....

Memb's english is good, he was invited as a caster to the biggest and most professional Aoe2 LAN events ever (RedBull V and RedBull legacy). Do you really think that would happen if his english was a problem?

He already said in his channel that Nili told him why he is not invited to NAC and that its for personal reasons and nothing professional.

Imo Memb is the best caster of Aoe2 (at least he is at the very top, most people would agree).

The fact that Dash (who not only is not an Aoe2 caster, but isn't even a caster at all, just a host in LoL) is invited instead of Memb is just a hit in the face of everyone who thinks that casters for major tournaments should be chosen on skill/experience and not on personal preference

you are alowed to invite whoever you want to your own private party for what ever reason you like.... or do you also invite the whole classroom or all your collegues to your housewarming party?...

you are not doing memb ANY favor at all... everytime you can see a small toxic minority trying to bully/threaten other casters/organisers/admins on AOEzone, in twitch chats, private messages and on Twitter...

imo, he definitely has a niche appeal, with his emotion and shock value, and that (along with his years of hard work and dedication to the game, among other things) earns a place in the casting side of things. but the best or at the very top is tough to agree with.

It's for personal reasons and nothing professional? Did you mean that the other way around? If he was not invited solely because there's a personal disagreement between them, that's a bit questionable.

How is it questionable if it's his own event? He is not obligated to invite anyone.. Obviously sucks for memb but if I were a host for example, I'd invite people I like/ feel like are going to fit the vibe (not saying that memb isn't, just in general) to my event than otherwise.

That example feels more like a professional one rather than a personal one though. Saying that we're looking for a certain style in this event and we have limited casting space so we've decided to go for a different option this time is one thing. It's a whole other thing to say "yeah, I just personally don't want this person to be there, it has nothing to do with professional reasons" is just odd and really unusual for the aoe2 scene.

Don't deny Memb's unselection with valid reasons. Language is an issue. Repeatedly saying the same words, constantly talking over co-casters, not being able to entertain new viewers from every part of the world (people who don't know aoe or haven't heard a cast before). All these are things Memb can work on. Every caster we see has done it.

1. T90 frequently watches other commentators from different sports to pick up entertainment formulas/phrases to say, the correct build up to hype, voice impersations, etc
2. Dave worked on being adaptable over the years by co-casting with multiple people, and can cast with virtually anyone, by far the best phrases, laughs, jokes, etc
3. Nili - (perhaps most similar to memb) I watch his earlier YT casts and he struggled with English too, but look at him now. How he has improved not only his vocabulary but also his grammar, observer skills (remember NAC2 when Nili first tried this) like Mapu and Vodka, transitions from one point to another.

(Nothing against Memb) - sorry definitely a lot against MEMB 11111 Instead of improving certain aspects of his casting, he cries. He can watch T90DaveNili to see how they transition from a joke to talking about strategy, how they talk about random things in dark age to entertain while also describe the map, res positions, civ matchup; how they build the hype for a stressful moment - not by screaming BABABOOM TITANIC but by describing what will happen if the boom happens, and what the player will need to do next, be careful for, win conditions, all in the heat of the moment while the players are fighting in different spots. Membstradamus always right 11111 when he says this he loses the entire opportunity to entertain - T90 would present that moment completely differently in a way he would not only sound like he is an expert caster, but also describe 90 other things happening at the same time.

Meanwhile Memb, stuck at 1600 elo for 10 years, rages in BF, blames his team all the time when he did the least work 11, cries daily when he loses to someone (and god forbid if he joined the chat to say thanks for game later in his chat, all the cultists will crucify him as a stream striper instantly 1111)

Uhhh I was just going off of what the other guy said who watched Memb's stream. Maybe there was a miscommunication there or something. I don't even really watch Memb, I was more just offering another angle to the discussion where people being blocked from events due to "personal" problems is an unexpected thing to see in the Aoe2 community (if that's actually what happened?)

Nili and T90 are 2k3 players now, Dave is definitely a better and faster player than Memb almost like 2k. When the casters are diving into tournaments or trying new things like observing and constantly working improving, you can see something is wrong.

If it wasn't for his legacy, even a player like Jordan, Hera or Viper would be chosen over MEMB to cocast. That would save costs as well.

This happens in real world too, companies prefer people who are either the best at what they do, or multitalented people. In sports as well - you want a player who is good at many things, or the best at some things (in football best striker is one who scores most goals, or is rather all round good at shooting, running, heading, speed, etc).

When a person is neither the best at their field, or not good enough in multiple in fields, its kind of a no brainer to not select them 1111

Because of your anger, you're posting bs. As already mentioned here, he was invited as one of the main casters in 2 Red Bulls, of which one had the 100k$ and the other one even double of that.
Also, his last KotD tournament had a sponsorship of 75k$, not far away of your very questionable and self proclaimed "100 k$ is the limit to invite a crazy guy screaming bababoom" line.

With that logic, 95% of casters in all kind of sports in the world have to be bad, because they don't have a background as a high profile player? I have news for you.
You find in every sport good casters who never played the game they're talking about. Also I follow esport events since 2005. So I can say from experience, that the caster's skillset how he plays the video game has nothing to do with how he is talking about it.

That's just your personal opinion without any value or weight. So declare it as such please, instead of trying to sell it as a fact. Everyone has his personal preference. Pro players have, as everyone else, their good and bad sides as casters. They can give top tier information about tactics and what is going on in a player's head in a certain situation, but can lack the skills to entertain or lack the empathy to new or casual viewers, when they are talking too fast and too specific.
It's not a surprise, that most of the time the best received casts were always a mix of an entertaining and a pro player as casters.

tbh i only made this account to speak what is in everyone's mind, but cannot say it out loud with their original accounts, due to being judged. And a fair bit of trolling here and there (i love watching memb tilt and flame 11, guy can't keep his cool)

come on, we all have tried to "explain" to memb many things, he's not one to listen openly (dont blame him, the guys a talker, he LOVES talking, some people are listeners, some are talkers)

since its been so many events now that we have noticed this "friction" between Memb and the other top 3 casters. Dave got along, because he is Dave. Tristan oh boy if only I can put it in words, how much friction there is between the two 11, and now Nili as well.

Since I do have a pseudo account, I can openly say, Memb doesn't gel with other casters, he always has to be the dominant one, and if you notice, neither of T90, Dave or Nili are such when casting together. That is why nowadays Memb cocasts with newer people like MoonFaller, Survivalist and even T-west. And in all of those, its always memb who is dominant, the other people have to adjust so much, instead of being the other way around (I noticed T90 once casted with Nova, an upcoming caster and I loved their cast - T90 gave Nova so many tips as well on screen so i can only imagine how much he helped back stage, I immediately added him and now I watch Nova over Memb casts. And mindwell both are spanish speakers, but you can clearly how one has improving while other is ___
