NAC 4 - Caster Discussions

Agree. I understand they want 7 games and The Viper to go through but the commentary on that set was difficult to listen to at times. Everything from Viper's pov. Felt for Villese. He's come a long way though and even managed to congratulate his opponent unawkwardly so there's progress there too.

Will be surprised to see anything other than Hera and Liereyy dominations today. 5-1/2's I reckon.

And tomorrow T90 will continue to celebrate Hera and Lierreyy at everything they do.
Our casters are biased, so what? This has not started since NAC4.. it is like this since forever.
Of course they wanted Viper to win because he is Viper, he is the GOAT, lost to both semfinalists convincingly and that comeback story is a story that you can write at this point as it is the most interesting for a majority of the viewers.

I don't get this thread either. There are people that look for opportunities to seperate the community. They pick alot of things against you. But as example when you call "he will push the button" minutes before other "good" casters they won't notice. They attack you constant, here and on reddit - always the same people with "bla bla i'm so happy he is not there + generic compliment for others" - Age of Empire is your business and brings bread on the table of your family. Do you really wanna permit them to do that constantly? When our silly nili does some silly move again the same people seems very chill with it and defend him because its nili - when you do such moves they will rip you apart. I smell some small aganeda against your type of human beings (his english...bla bla bla. his emotions bla bla bla.... his phrases bla). I can understand that fight this stuff is for you a waste of time because you feel to old for it but I think its still worth it to fight that.

To Dash - he seems like a nice gentle dude and professional but I still don't see any argument pro him fulfilled. Where is all these attention people spoke about? Where are all the viewers he will attract?
A Riley or Memb could bring the same or even better when I think about the interviews. A Daut cast would attract thousends of viewers more then Dash ever will. Where is the idea - what was the plan? I just see "I have a friend were was once a pro. caster from Riot lets bring him over here".

Maybe.
Braindead is a hard word - I would prefer "driven by evil intentions" or they enjoy spreading there negativty/ splitting communties.
For me in the end as fan it is sad if that would be the reason we never see nili+memb cast again. They both together are such an enjoyble casting duo.

For me it is the tournament of sadness.
No Daut.
No Memb.
Nili sad about sponsoring issue.
Viper in pain.
No Riley.
Villese choking in the end.

Both those who can see no fault in X and those who see only faults are braindead, but hard to call both "driven by evil intention".

Hera is to Aoe what Sweden is to ice hockey. Always try-harding (and steamrolling) in the group stages, being hyped to win the gold, only to sh*t the bed in the playoffs when it really matters.

Okay; preface, I love Memb, and I'm watching this tourney on his stream for what it's worth. But the constant small open jabs at other members of the community are frankly becoming very grating.

I kinda agree, you could tell Memb was exhausting himself casting the group stages, the maps annoy him (Golden Swamp... truly titanic), and he's quite disappointed that he wasn't invited - which is perfectly understandable. But this heat burns the coffee, and it's not great to experience for a long time. Also it's really unpleasant when he takes it out on his mods - not talking about silly jokes about mods playing bad or whatever, but being sharp saying "c'mon mods, update the title. titanic. I do it myself, I'm alone here." When a viewer asks if the mods are paid, Memb says "Paid? Ha! they should be paying me!" - and then admits that the mods are regular donators. So it's painful to see and hear as a long-time viewer. Still watching his stream because I prefer it over most of the main stream caster duo's, who are not very good at building hype and who have the detectable biases other people mentioned already.

It's not a good look when you criticize other casters and tournament organizers. It sounds really immature and unprofessional.

It was close in the end, but not really. Viper struggled pretty much every game, always on the back foot. Kinda glad we don't have to listen to whoever's commentating simp over Viper in the finals though. I thought vs Villese it was bad but that there was something else.

The bias toward Viper was a bit distracting yeah

I think if there's a way for Twitch to let viewers give honest feedback to streamers without repercussions, the complaints won't have to spill over here all the time.

As is, it's too common for people in Twitch chat to get timed out and banned by mods for saying something mildly negative (admittedly, it's sometimes hard to discern feedback from trolls); when the criticism spills over here it's much harsher because those dissenters are rightfully annoyed at being silenced. And then you have other people who don't know the context joining in by mob mentality, and the streamers get defensive. Not a good outcome for anyone.

Today’s final will be very interesting indeed. The two best players of the tournament without a doubt, excellent performance during all series. I’m glad they made it to the final despite playing in GL’s headquarters and the mental pressure you must feel in an environment like that. It shows how good these players are and the TOP level they currently are at.

I think this tournament is positive for the competitive environment of the game. I has showed the gap in level between Hera/Lierey vs other TOP players. It is something they can’t ignore moving forward.

Much has been said in this thread: Uninvited casters, conspiracy theories, broken interviews, China’s gov and more… It’s been fun to read it all. I’d only add that Dash should leave room for others to talk and not be the one driving the cast. T90 or Dave sound more experienced to me, so it would be good for him to slow down a bit.

Concerning the apparent bias of some casters toward Viper, it is important to remember that many of them are coming from literally years of experience casting games where Viper was expected to win before the game even started, so I think the current awkwardness is just due to the casters needing to adjust to the way things are now, where Viper isn't the clear favorite.

I seem to remember one or two years ago someone saying T90 or some other caster was biased against Viper and that's because the casters were inclined to favor the underdog of the set, since underdogs winning creates more hype. Viper was clearly the underdog coming to the playoffs because of his illness and relatively poor performance in the Swiss stage. I personally find this explanation more likely, since still thinking Viper would dominate every single set is clearly delusional.

I think that will come as time passes. Keep in mind this was his first major cast with everyone. He will only get better with time, and their synergy will only improve. The reason T90 and Dave are so good is because they have been casting together for years - they both laugh together, make each other laugh, joke about things, joke about each other, even joke with the observer ffs 11 (which is SOO hilarious Vodka if you read this, you did an amazing job at NAC). it all adds to their casting value. Same with Nili. It's like 3 friends talking about their day but with the knowledge and skills to keep it relatively professional
"professional" in our scene basically is just an umbrella term for providing a cast which is :
1) engaging
2) funny
3) moderately energetic and hyped at the right moments
4) fair bit of off-topic points thrown in here and there during boring moments
5) referencing player histories/conversations/quotes
6) mentioning the production/observer/behind-the-scenes people so their presence is noticed.
7) making animal noises
8) birds

I have to think Nili should be pleased with the viewership numbers and I think there’s a reason for the success: Da... no I don’t think that’s it. It’s the fact that Nili did a great job of getting the reddit audience interested. That’s a big (and presumably very cheap) win so it’s a lesson for others.

maybe, but i think it is more of a habit than a conscious choice in this case
