Watched all games in NAC3.
I must give a special mention to The_YO, or i should call him YOLO, 3 of his games are grand masterpizzas.
Islands vs Hera, life on a thread castle drop on Hera's island.
Arabia vs Viper, down 60 pop and literally coming back from hell.
Serengeti vs Viper, nuff said, NOBURU RUSHING VIPER AND GETTING A WIN?!?!?!
Gotta rewatch these.

U don't have to upload if you are busy. And if you are even complaining about this, plz send me rec a week earlier next time before the hype is completely over but not whining after people's passion turning into disappointment. A tournament not even allowing people spectating or casting rec worth a doubt about everything which is not clear. I'm very glad u point that out.

Watching replay, it's laughable how one lone caster kept referring Inca vill rush the "noburu strategy". Just becuase Noburu was one of the first players played that way, does that caster really think the strategy used in 1800/1900 rated games is the same as what Yo used in a top tier tournament SF match against the best player in the world?

In fact, Noburu himself said what Yo did against Lierry was 'wrong'. Yet Yo again beat Viper even Viper was prepared and picked a counter civ. Nothing against Nobu, but that just shows his knowledge of the stratgey was simply limited by his level of play. What Yo did was totally above and beyond the original "Noburu strat" if there was even such thing. Might as well call it 'Yo's rush'.

Give credit to Yo where it's due. He played IMO the best game in NAC3 against the world's number one. The play is not anybody's strategy - stopping calling it noburu rush. It's just Inca vill rush.

Generally people name the strategy for the first people to utilize it. If you can show Yo trushing and boxing with Incan villagers before Noburu, then it's Yo's rush. If not, then it's Noburu's.

I don't think a caster calling it a "noboru" strategy is taking away from the success of one's play. It's not to imply that Yo is worse than Noboru, or that he couldn't perform as well as Noboru. Instead it ties in a very well known strategy to the games at hand which can really excite the audience as it's quite rarely seen from one of the world's best. Yo is a beast and played like an animal in the semi finals, I don't think a single viewer thought less of him because of the noboru comments. It's the same if I were to say "okay Viper" if another player has a good moment of micro. Does that take anything away from Viper's skill? Nope!

Most importantly, NAC3 (for me) is great because of how close it brings the community. Players & Casters joined from all over the planet to make it happen, as did many fans. INCLUDING Noboru himself, who was apparently jumping for joy in the hotel when he saw he was mentioned in from of so many AoE fans. This is the closeness the AoE2 Community thrives on and I don't regret bringing up Noboru in this instance. I later had people at the meetup telling me that was their favorite game of the day and Noboru himself was grinning from ear to ear when we had a chat about it.

I'll take the criticism and try to keep my memeing in check because we casters have to ride a fine line to keep so many people happy. It's not easy and there are always those that will disagree, it is what it is. But here I felt the need to speak up!

Noboru rush is noboru rush. Dont listen to naysayers. I loved how that game was casted, it only added to how good the game was and helped keep us on the edge of our seats.

It doesn't matter who used the strategy first, in this case I bet thousands of people have tried that strategy before noboru since it's super obvious (and FE with the incas trush and villager bonuses has been out for like 7+ years?). The credit goes to the first high level player that used it consistenly and perfected it. I'm not sure if a player better than noboru is using this consistenly since it's such a clown strategy.

noboru definitely did not invent using armored vills as the primary army in the feudal age, as I remember doing it shortly after WK was released, as well as others doing it to me. But he did improve upon it and popularize it, making it his go-to strategy in 100+ 1k8-2k1 level 1v1 games.

Some reference of Noburu is fine and fun, but to me it was a bit excessive during the cast. At times I felt I was watching a community game streaming, not NAC3 SF. Not that there's anything wrong with community games as I know many pros including Viper do play, but it felt a bit awkward as if Yo/Viper were playing a casual show match for fun to demo the 'noburu rush', while in fact it was a crucial SF game of a top tier tournament where world #1 and #2 (in terms of elo ranking at the time of play) were battling all out and the level of play was insanely high. Yet the game was constantly being referenced with 1800 community game play. It makes you wonder what civs they're going to pick next for forest nothing lol

I really feel you're discrediting noboru for what he accomplished with the strategy over the few months he did it. As Flu said, he wasn't the first to try it. But he (an 1800 player with normal strategy) reached 2143 with this strategy and beat really high level players like Bruh, Project_Belgium, and more names I can't verify at the moment (belgium when you read this you're welcome for reminding you.) I can't think of another player who has gone for one strat and upped his level to that degree on any map, much less arabia. That's close if not in the Top 50(ish). The only player that comes to mind is Hoang but hoang has played his style ever since I've known him, and didn't really adapt a new one and up his level like Noboru. He wasn't a community game memer in the slightest.

It seems like the root of your issue is really my excitement level & my way of expressing it, and as I've already said fair enough. It wasn't your cup of tea. I didn't really respond to defend myself as much as contest the claim that Noboru is a meme and doesn't deserve the recognition, and also that it was disrespectful to Yo to mention him in that context. I disagree on that front.

I normally avoid aoezone threads & I'll leave it at that. Sorry I ruined the experience for you, just trying my best out there.

You saying like all <2k2 players are **** players and don't deserve to be mentioned anywhere because of their "low" elo..

There are a lot of players that tried some interesting and uncommon strategies even on HD. So did Noboru. But he with this strategy came to Voobly and kick many 2k+ asses. So he approved that this is great strategy. And then Yo also approved this on SF NAC3, when he was even 20 vs 26 vils vs Viper.
And I don't see much of a difference between Noboru Inca rush and Yo's one. Yo did just same things, but with perfect micro and saving a lot of low hp vils.

Noburu isn’t one of T90s community game regulars - I could understand your comments if it had been the legend of blue coffee etc. all the time. The fact that noburu is indeed worth mentioning is that viper after the semifinal went to noburu and ask him about the strat that he then played next day vs Hera

In football you still talk about Panenka and Madjer for technical plays made popular by these players. Seems very unlikely that they were the first players in the game to make these plays, also they are not the best players ever to attempt them, but the said plays were still named after them and it's fine. To these days, if I say that Messi did a Panenka at the CL finals everybody knows what I'm talking about, and nobody will say that Panenka was an average player who never achieved or won anything and how dare you compare the best player in the world to him etc.

Same goes for Fosbury flop for example. You'll see that a lot, someone brings an unusual play to the spotlight, it's named after them. Even if they are not the first or most skillful to use it.

It is so funny you mention Dosia grenade. I've always wondered why people call it "Dosia grenade" when Get_Right did it years before that (with a molly though). It's quite ironic when we're discussing "Noboru rush" and such.
