Hello everyone,
I don’t post on here very often so I feel like I should clarify who I am before I get started.
My name is Dave and I was invited by nili to cast at NAC 3. Now that I’ve had some time to recover and gather my thoughts, I thought it would be nice to type them out and mention all the great people I had a chance to meet while I was in Germany.
Hera:
Dude I’m so glad we got to chat for a solid 4 hours (even if it was waiting in an airport lol). You are an amazing guy with such a positive mindset towards improving. I love how willing you are to take input and ask questions from people no matter what their level. Hopefully we can meet up again in Canada soon
Liereyy:
I’m not sure how I feel about the fact I find myself saying “14” and “omegalul” in real life situations but I know it’s 100% because of you. It was great getting to know you and I love how you just fit into a group that is generally much older than you are. I also laugh every time I remember you yelling “resign” at the screen when someone was dragging a game on too long 11
LaaaaaN:
I know you were frustrated with not winning a set at NAC but I see you being a big part of the competitive scene in the coming months/years. You’re a super nice guy and a great competitor, I’m glad we had a chance to catch up at the airport on the way out of Hamburg. I look forward to seeing you again!
Ornlu:
I really enjoyed your company dude (even with all the caster jokes lmao). I was also super impressed that in a room full of the best players in the world, everybody would look to you if there was a question about the tech tree/general game knowledge. Thanks for waiting with me in the check in line 11
Villese:
It was great to sit next to you and watch all the games dude. I really respect the fact you were one of the players pointing out how unfair the bye system was even though it negatively impacted you. You are such a great player and the fact you had tatoh down 2-0 at one point was stunning. Also, I have an amazing photo of you from that potato restaurant lmao
Max:
No homo…..but you low-key might have been my favourite person at the tournament. Watching games with you on the couch has completely ruined spectating games for me now lol. Your knowledge of the game combined with your understated humour was so enjoyable to listen to. I don’t know how I’m ever going to top that spectating experience. Can’t wait to meet you again!
Tatoh:
Even though you were sick for a lot of the days, it was an absolute pleasure getting to know you. I really really enjoyed the set we casted together, there were so many great moments (moonwalking scout, high and sick, daut scouting etc…). And you actually improved my mood so much at the meetup when you were laughing at how upset I was lmao.
Mr yo:
To be honest I had no clue what to expect when meeting you, but now I can see why viper enjoys your company so much. You are just such a great dude with a wicked sense of humour. I’m glad I had the chance to meet you and can’t wait until the next time.
Felix (Overlay guy):
As much as we stuck to the meme, I think everyone involved in the tournament really respected the amount of work you put in. It was crazy to think about everything you were doing combined with the fact you were sick/not getting any sleep. Also props for being my smoke buddy <3
Daut:
Thank you for using my first name. You are actually a super chill dude and I’m glad we had the chance to smoke shisha/hang out together. Next time you need to not be sick and we’ll go get blackout drunk somewhere.
Flo (the cook):
Thank you for all the amazing food and for the tea that literally saved my life every morning. I really enjoyed talking with you and your positivity was infectious.
Turk:
What a ****ing pleasure my dude. The energy you bring to everything you do is just contagious and I’m so glad I met you. I’m really happy that FE has someone like you as the community manager, the passion you have for the community is unbelievable.
Tristan:
As usual, we were on the same page with almost every topic. Truly best friend material. It was great to finally be able to cast with you live, it won't be the last time!
See you soon big guy
Viper:
So glad I could finally meet you in person. It’s amazing that the best player in our community might simultaneously be the best person in our community. I just wish you weren’t so sick and that we could’ve hung out a big more. Maybe next time lol
Debbie:
I’m so glad we got to meet each other (#smokebuddy). I hope we can hang out again at the next event/events!
PS: The memory of you trying to teach Tristan how to use a fork properly will always make me laugh
Nili:
What can I say…… I honestly thought I would never be able to make it to a meetup, let alone be able to cast tournament games live. You made that possible and I will always be grateful for that.
I didn’t really have a channel to promote the event, no LAN casting experience, and no real fanbase to bring along. And yet you still took a chance on bringing me all the way to Germany.
The amount of work and dedication you put into this event probably can’t be understood by the majority of the people on here. I know there will always be those people who disagree, but I think the decisions you made regarding hera and the bye system were in the best interest of the tournament and I really respect the fact you had the balls to make them.
Maybe we can actually grab that banana pizza next time I’m in Hamburg
To everyone at the meetup:
It was a pleasure to finally put faces to the names I’ve seen online for so long. I’m sorry if I was in a terrible mood at the meetup #****fakedave
To everyone else:
I’ve been overwhelmed by all the positive feedback I’ve been getting from NAC. I really struggled through a lot of it on very little sleep and being sick but I gave it my best and I think it paid off in the end.
In a weird way, my goal for NAC was to show people that I was more than just “T90’s cocaster” and I think I made a nice step towards that.
Thank you!!!
I think I’ll go back to making fun of people and being a meme now
