I mean it was pretty clear that the tournament is not the most competitive one ever and also that the regular AoEzone poster is not the main target group of this event. What I find a bit weird is the apparent inconsistency of the format.
Like if you wanna have a competitive tournament, make sure that the settings and matchups are competitive. If you wanna have a just-for-fun event, make some fun settings. There would have been a million ways to e.g. pose some challenges for the pros when facing the noobs or just create some more funny situations.
But who wants to see a match of TaToH where he has double the score of his opponent after literally 10 minutes game time and reaches Castle Age before his opponent clicks Feudal?
Also not sure about the casters - even when I try to focus on the fun part and ignore the obvious lack of AoE2 knowledge, it's not really entertaining... Viper's mix of sarcasm and actual game-related comments is the only thing that kept me watching for a while.
