hi guys here is my stream link; http://tr.twitch.tv/xeny_
i am not able to stream nowadays but i will make in the near future...
i searched too many streaming guides on internet and gathered them together...Here are some tips;
About Resolution:
Most people havent got sufficient connection to make HD stream. So i prefer to use %50 or %75 of game's native resolution(many people use 1280*1024) for xsplit. But if you have good upstream bandwidth you may want to use same resolution with your game's native. And its important to keep aspect ratio if you are using %50 or %75 resolution.
For example if your game resolution is 1280*1024 then use it's %75 - 960*768 resoluion on xsplit settings.
About Framerate
Age of empires isnt high-fps game so i prefer to use 20 fps or 25 fps(if have good upload speed).
About Scaling
Most professionals say that scaling viewport can reduce xsplit's cpu usage. So set it to %10
About Quality
If you have good pc i strongly recommend you to use Quality-10. Because quality setting is one of the main important thing of streaming. Quality is directly affects game's motion-frames. The higher quality you use, the lower corruption on frames. For example (of course for aoc) while switching view stable to towncenter by using hotkey, if your quality is 10/10 there is minumum view-corruption. If you use lower quality there are some blurred frames for a while. So you should try and find best quality not to get your cpu usage over %75. I have laptop and t7300 processor and somehow i can use Quality-10 for example
About Preset
One of the most cpu intensive setting is presets. Well, there is xsplit default good for game streaming but if you average computer like mine, you may want to change it to superfast or ultrafast. Making it faster is better for cpu usage but need much more upload speed and cause some quality reduce. And you have one more option to make your own preset config file if you know about encoding/decoding and save it to xsplit's preset folder. I made one preset config file for get best cpu performance while few quality loss.
here is my preset file for average cpu users:http://netload.in/datei3UsxIyMeud/libx264ext-MerdeN Special.ffpreset.htm
About Maxbitrate and Buffersize
I actually dont know too much information about this subject but as i learned so far its recommended to use %75 of your maximum upload speed but if you use lower resolution and veryhigh bandwidth you shouldnt make it %75 of maximum. For example 500-750kbps is enough for streaming 640:480p. So if you make stream with near that resolution and have 10mbit upload speed you dont need to use its %75 (7,5mbit) for maxbitrate. and i recommend that you better to set buffer same with your maxbitrate. So your viewers can watch your stream easily.
Conclusion
If you feel lag while playing game try one of these at first;
1-) lower resolution
2-) use faster preset
3-) lower quality
You can ask me anything about streaming on this topic. I dont know english very well so i hope i could help you.
