Masters of Arena 7 Announcement!

It is time for Age of Empires II’s finest warriors to once again enter the Arena! With a $10,000 prize pool on the line, this summer we will find the new Master of Arena! Masters of Arena 7 will once again bring together the best players in the game on one of its most popular and competitive maps. The illustrious tournament series has seen Miguel, slam, Edie, The Viper and DauT crowned champions. Who will follow in their footsteps?
This edition features a 9 villager start as well as a unique draft system that guarantees great variety in civilizations played.
The tournament will take place from May 29 to July 2. 128 players compete for 32 places in the main event, where a GSL group stage awaits them.

Another thing that organizers should take into account. In the NC 2023 one of the best maps is ARENA 4v4. Really amazing games, amazing civs combinations! We have RAGE FOREST, we must have ARENA 4v4 tournament!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually we thought about this, but prefer this system. It still gives players bit of time to react and plan and it's also decent for viewers and casters. It's exactly 2 seconds for 1 ban, so the automatic part of the draft takes roughly 45 - 60 secs. Don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Seeding is average of current & highest 1v1 ladder rating, + bonus points for performance in previous closed map tournaments.
Tatoh has higher bonus points (150) than Yo (90), but his current rating and highest rating are much lower (2456 vs 2704 & 2605 vs 2799, respectively)

Firstly Nicov asked for one day extension of the playing deadline as these games were supposed to be done by Sunday

Then he forefits with the reason that he doesn't feel like playing, strange behavior. Hope all is well for @Nicov

 

Let's be honest, forfeit during a match of a tournament sponsored by Microsoft is an absolute disgrace and would deserves a sanction.
Nicov should be banned for like 3-6 months, he will not resign again such event just because "he doesn't feel playing" after that.

As much as I dislike it, it is unfortunately quite common to forfeit in the middle of a match. If you want to ban everyone who did that, there would be quite a few less players. Also people would just come up with excuses to justify it (e.g. nobody can or should ban you for being sick after all)

Is it really that common?? Has not happened a lot in aoe2 tournaments.

Forefitting in the middle of a game is extremely rare for established eSports, real sports even rarer (almost never)

In real world you need to produce proof of sickness if someone demands. Obviously anyone is excused if they are really sick but there are measures to limit abuse

As far as I remember, the only example I remember of someone resigning like that during a $10k prizepool tournament with a big sponsor was Vivi (in 2021 I think, before AOE IV) and I think he got a temporary ban (please correct if I'm wrong).

One more example I remember out of my head in big tournaments is Hoang in HC3 qualifier vs DauT. I'm sure there are a few other examples if I do some research. In smaller tournaments it feels like it happens every other week. Besides, it can hardly be worse than not showing up for a match at all, which REALLY happens every other week, even in some big tournaments.

 

I feel sad for JonSlow. MoA7 is an awesome event and have been following every match I could. Why are these disrespectful players registering if they know anyway that they dislike the map pool?
Just start banning these players and let the new wave coming. I mean, I'd love to have seen a proper matchup with Mihai, Margougou, FreakinAndy,...
Some players have been there for so long whatever their behavior it's like nothing happened.
