most beginners/lower rated player suffer from lack of information ( the kind that you only gain after years of playing) about some hidden truths that are less known to the casual players.
This thread is an attempt to gather as many little-known info that are only known after many years of playing the game.
all info given here is topic for discussion and review and everyone is welcome to share their ideas .
I'll start first with some of my own. I have split these into 3 groups ('army control','eco-management' and 'map scouting' ) , also bare in mind that im just a 17++ player so my game knowledge is not that big ; but it still would help a new/low-level player)
* ARMY CONTROL
-with a small number of military (under 6 units ) better use box formation for better fight engagement)
-for big army over 7 it is usually preferable to go for patrol stance when attacking ( except if you have a full archers army then defense stance/fall back is ur best friend)
-always try to take hills when fighting (hill bonus 1.25*attack)
-when raiding villagers under town center fire , select the unit that is being attacked by tc arrows and try to move it around to keep it alive as much as possible for better raiding result.
.....
* eco management
-always check your lumber camps/mines see if your vills are getting stuck and if you reach more than 9 vils per lumber camp its better to send 4 to make a new one (to avoid over-saturation).
-in dark age don't put more than 7 vils on one boar or 6 vils on one sheep.
.....
*map scouting
- in dark age when you find your extra 4 sheep in one place then there is a high chance that your 2 boars are equidistant from your town center, on the other hand, if your 4 extra sheep are far from each other and equidistant from the tc then your 2 boars are usually close to each other.
- if you see deer running away from a certain position then its either a boar or an enemy scout.

ill try to update this thread with more ideas that come to mind and with ones shared in the comment , cheers
