My statement was that a one map tournament for a whole month is boring for a lot of people who watch,

KOTD viewership was very similar to NAC4 across the whole tournament. Any facts to support your statement?

Not sure where I read it, but someone brought up a good idea of mixing up the types of arabia maps. So one very open arabia, one very closed, one with some ponds (and fish) and others that are super hilly and others that are really flat. Something to think about maybe for the next KOTD.

As for the final, yeah it was a bit of a let-down but you know what at the moment nobody plays as much and trains as hard as Hera. His approach isn't just purely mechanical but also striving to understand and analyze the game better from a cerebral point of view too.

Plus he helps the community and gives back whenever he can. Hera is a real gem to our scene right now.

My favorite part of KotD V has been the winner interview and Hera's honest words of appreciation and gratitude toward Memb. There are so many aspects to the game and community, some parts we enjoy more, some parts less, some even frustrate us... but the most important thing is we love Age of Empires II. The game which has been with us for more than two decades and gave us so many priceless memories. It went through some dark times but stayed alive thanks to efforts of fans who persisted with it no matter what. Memb is one of the people who did so much for the community over the years. He deserved to hear these things. Kudos to Hera, kudos to Memb. Beautiful finale of the tournament. Looking forward to more in the future!

Memb has done a lot for the community and when he said he felt 'queefed in the face' for not being invited for certain tournaments i understood that. However, this tournament felt a bit too long for my taste. There were a bit too many games that didn't get me hyped becasue of that group stage. I hope that will be changed into full knock-out.

@MembTV is the best. He's provided us with and been a part of so many great moments in the community over the years it's impossible to compile a list.

I've said it before but I remember watching Memb on some of the worst days of my life - after deaths in my immediate family - and even then I couldn't help but smile at the enthusiasm and passion he has for this game. I hope he never leaves this community.

Thanks for another incredible tournament, Memb. Can't wait for KOTD VI already.

Yeah, I can't remember when I last followed a tournament this closely. A daily dose of Memb over the last days felt like being young again, like coming home. Still getting entertained by my favorite players, still being amazed by the beauty of this game. For the final day, I met with friends. We watched the games together and then played some 2v2s into the night.

I said a lot, didn`t say all ... I think that having a `one map` tournament going on for a whole month is a bad idea to keep viewers occupied. It is irrelevant which map it is ...

I didn`t watch a single game of KOTD because i dislike Arabia and think it is boring or a DIY Arena ...
I was happy other content providers provided other content but would switch off when they would switch to KOTD.
I would not expect all casters to provide with the same tournament as some of the community expected (why is x and x not casting kotd blahblah) as it would force all arabia players now into watching MoA (they might learn a thing or 2) for the next month. The diversity of maps and games is what makes this game so great. Not grinding a single map ...

I’d rather watch a year straight of Arabia matches than a tournament that is overloaded with gimmick maps (e.g. Golden Swamp) which provide at best superficial diversity in strategy. Drafting for mixed maps tournaments has also become extremely stale: do we really need to see more Japanese on Four Lakes/Cross?

I hope the MoA7 drafting is introduced in all tournaments!

Thank you for an amazingly well organized tournament!

Obviously, no ones fault. But didnt feel the hype this time. Hera 5-0ed Viper, who 4-1ed MBL, who 4-0ed Sitaux, who 3-0ed Lierrey, who 3-0ed everyone repard and classicpro. Also, summer tournaments just hit differently.

Ro16 was some of the biggest hype, and then yeah as everyone said lots of stomps. Still it's not Membs fault, and the games were still fun, with some really close ones too despite the results, good tournament all around. Also incredible selection of co-casters, I always love that you get to hear from someone else than T90, Dave or Nili and Memb showcases some of the great personalities of our community, like Margougou and Dragonsyar, and so on!

I disagree, i think arabia is MB´s favourite map and the only map where he can play top 4-6 lvl, in other tournaments he is more in the top 6-12 area

I get it that you don't enjoy one map tourneys which is fine but anything to support viewers overall are not occupied because overall viewership was similar to other multi map tourneys

people coplaining on 1 map tournament, come on.

aoe2 has tournaments for all tastes, and thats the important and good thing. and also we need all the diferent kinds of tournaments.

we need kotd, we need moa, we need nac, hc, boa, and so on. each tournament has his own secret.

for example, if you make tournaments with diferent maps, you will always see the same civs on the same map. with one map only, the diversity appears, the diferent strategies for the same map, but diferent civs.

I really dislike arabia as a map but the tournament I enjoyed alot. Most the series of mr yo, vivi and daut. If I could make my own dream final I would chose nicov vs vivi all day long instead of hera vs theviper.
No offense to hera. he is clearly nr 1 and deserves it but for me the peak aoe pros reached a skill level were the game as a spectator isn't enjoyable anymore.
They don't "play" anymore - they execute strategies on the highest level for humans possible.
vivi vs nicov or yo vs daut showed me the strength of arabia and what is map is able to deliver increcible games
