Hello everyone i just wanted to say that King of the Desert 4 has been the most amazing experience i have done on my "own", i say on my own because it was many people doing a great job as you all can imagine.

I really believe that been a huge event that we all needed, me as a age of empires content creator but mostly as i age of empires 2 LOVER, i think with the budget we had, we just got the best experience possible.

There has been so many epic moments and really crazy series, i believe the gameplay has been very very high, and even with those people thinking that aoe4 made some others not get their best gameplay i just dont think that is truth, is just that those people that been prepare ALOT it paid off.

Hope the tournament was as great experience as it was for me and my team, we worked so hard and tried bring the most competitive and professional tournament BUT with the most fun possible as well.

WE brought as much people as possible to cocast and participate so thanks so much to all of them, if you check in liquipedia you guys can see how many people we involved, and we basically involved as much as we could bring and they wanted.

Only small bad moment was during the semifinal that sadly we got technical problems since the company i contract lost their 2 providers, which is unlikely to happen but oh boy, german internet ay ay ay but i think i manage to recover and in final day i controlled everything on my own, with some help of course, from the crazy guys that help me chrazini, rorarimbo and my mods.

Being said that i want to also be transparent completly and tell you what this KOTD4 in numbers has been and here we go.

As you can imagine we have got alot expenses since i tried to make a professional event, and that cost ALOT, some people didn´t even ask me money but i will also pay them for their job.

So expenses are going to production team, administration, graphics, overlays, 3 video promos and a long etc etc.

Sponsors are very happy with the event and they think it has been a great event.

Hope everyone has enjoyed and will try to keep bringing more AoE2 events as soon as possible.

I am very relieved to know this. It goes without saying that you will always want to host aoe2 tournaments, but if the sponsors are not happy then the money dries up. Thank you for the tournament Memb, and I really wish you all the best!

Sick event, I think the timing was great, we really needed a great AoE2 event and boy, did KotD deliver!

Great to see new innovations on old strats, the meta definitely changed quite a bit over the tournament. As always it's also great to see the quality of the stream evolve and to now have a production crew, an observer and an interviewer involved is great.

It was great to see some break-out performances from Sitaux and Vinchester, I hope they'll be able to improve and keep challenging the top players.

As for the format, I really liked the double elimination group stage, I've wanted to see it for a long time and it's great Memb tried it out here. It fixes some of the issues a GSL system has (people rematching for example) and I hope to see it more in the future. There's also slight iterations, for example one where only 3 out of 8 players per group make it out and you have the top 2 players in the group play another match where the winner qualifies for the semifinals, while the loser has to play against the third place of the other group in the quarterfinals.

All I can do is chime in with the praise, these past few weeks were amazing entertainment. The many Co-Casters were an amazing touch, some people I actually got to hear and see for the first time, some others I'm well familiar with. And of course your casting, which was absolutely stellar as well.

You handled the issues on the last Saturday like an absolute Master. I can imagine how stressed you must have felt, but you pulled through and adapted to a very unfortunate situation.

This was an amazing event to watch, and you gave us some of the best AoE2 entertainment ever in a time many of us were thirsting for it. Anything you'll set up in the future, I'll be sure to watch.

Well, for those unaware Memb lives right next to the Tabernas dessert, the only dessert in Europe. A decent portion of Hollywood movies from the 20th century were actually filmed there. There's still a wild west town that you can visit.

I can already imagine a LAN event taking place there...

@MembTV starring as a young sheriff. He's 25 but somehow many wrinkles scar his face. @_PkZ_ is behind the bar, he's been keeping the bar going for so long that he can't be bothered anymore. @Nili_AoE the banker is effortlessly playing poker with @_DauT_ , he doesn't suspect his opponent is about to throw his best hand, the Daut bluff.

Meanwhile @MaSmOrRa is playing the piano, only he can create such a nice but also tense atmosphere. It might feel uneasy in the room but @Katsuni , who's sitting in a dark corner with a trusty old bourbon bottle by his side, still finds it in him to check out a nice lady sitting by the bar.

When it is the least expected @Liereyy the Kid abruptly enters the room with his signature grim face. Mouse by his side and hand always ready. He scans the room, no snake in sight, he can relax. Surprisingly he makes his way to sit next to Memb. The sheriff and the outlaw, the two most unlikely friends share yet another evening in this wretched old town.

A doomsday cult leader stands on top of a table. He has studied the scriptures, he knows the history. He is in fact preaching about the devil (aoe4), DE matchmaking, the aoe2 pros being Microsoft shills and the impending aoe2 apocalypse. Everyone is just having their drinks in peace mostly ignoring him.
Nevertheless it becomes annoying after a while, so Memb decides he's had enough. With a quick dash (totally appropriate for his age) he reaches for him. When he's about to grab him and in a surprising turn of events, the cult leader vanishes into thin air. Everyone sighs...the power of the Alt+F4.

The same percentage indeed. As nothing else was specified before the tournament it is hard to justify another option when you know how players placed.

My imagination has gone wild, I might have to call this wild west town and find out if someone else has been asking questions to host an event. Memb might be crazy enough to do it 11. Maybe pitching the idea to people like Pinztec so they go ahead and fund the real King of the Desert. Besides the sheriff role really suits him, "bam bam bam you're banned!" And no one wants to get banned in this town as you'd be spending the rest of the day in prison with Ertug 11

Yeah from what I'm reading some other places can be considered deserts under various definitions but southeastern Spain is the only part of the European mainland with areas that classify climatically as subtropical hot desert and the Tabernas region in particular is the only place that strongly features the landscapes stereotypically associated with a subtropical hot desert so I think you are right to stand by what you said. You can retract the favorable treatment in the screenplay if you would like 11

Yuup exactly you get it. I went to look at the desert from the air on Google Earth, ended up flying all around the Mediterrean region marveling at how much land ancient/medieval empires tried to control without modern technology, then paused looking at Italy from the direction of Greece and got distracted by the Greek city names appearing in both scripts.

Great event! Obviously, the quality of a one-map event owes a lot to the quality of the map. Arabia has historically been the best map, but recent versions have taken a lot of the shine off. This version of Arabia was brilliant and restored my faith in fun, agile, aggressive play. Hats off to the scripter – I assume Chrazini?
