His 2d point makes the most sense. having to play a ro512 is an absolute waste of your weekend. However with this tournament the payout is quite deep so good on that part.

Idk when it became the fashion to include ro200+ for an S-tier tournament. Like laan said you have to wait so long in between games that are basically pointless to play since if you are a top 30 player any round above 128 is a stomp.

I wish we could go back to regular ro64 qualifiers for tournaments. And it's not like new players don't get a chance to play in tournament, there are plently being hosted. But in my opinion they shouldn't be allowed in S-tier tourneys.

But his second point kinda contradicts his third. Just favouring players with higher elo instead of past tournament performance (or fame?). I understand its always hard to draw the line for cut off tho.

What we need is a qualifier for the qualifier for all the lower elo players.
For some continents in the world cup qualifiers the low rank teams have preliminary rounds in order to qualify to play against better nations. The same is true for champions league 1st few qualification rounds. Perhaps if you are ranked top 32 or top 40 you get a bye for the first 2-3 rounds if a large qualifier of 200+ players exists. More admin work though. But also more even matches in every round.
An example 400 starting players to 200 next round then to 100, then in round 3 the top 28 non auto qualified players join for round of 128. Or similar.

Not only this. Qualifications are actually pretty bad for streamer and viewer experience. There won`t be big interest to any random bo128/256/512 round series esp when the real big names are already qualified and you are not going to see lets say Daut vs a random 17xx player. This is only done to give more players the chance to taste competative environment.

Technically no global holiday during the qualifier weekend, sure you have Halloween and All Saints day but neither of these are what i'd call a major global holiday. Honestly their is all sorts of different holidays around the world.

I think its fair however to say as long as 3 weeks notice is, the truth is anyone planning a holiday or such over a weekend easily can plan several weeks in advance.


This throws back to culture of aoe tournament announcements, I think memb and kotd team have tried to do their best in letting people know as early as possible but obviously i think everyone would be happy if they knew days of big S tier tournaments months in advance, not weeks.


Edit: Which note its hard to complain to 1 tournament organizers about the schedule when in fact you have a large amount of different organizers, you looking at all sorts of clashes so its not so easy to sort out when you have many moving parts.

3rd, 16 invited players? 11 come on, kinda tired of this (obviously not speaking by myself because im not playing, but whattttttttttt, just make it only invitational, it's the same 11) not only these players deserve an invitation, it is controversial, there are some more that deserve it too

Despite there being 16 invitees, I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be. They're "only" guaranteed $600 and will have to prove their worth in a Ro32 against a qualifier player to get to play in the group stage.
They could've phrased it as: 16 players have been invited to the final round of the qualification and after that the main event starts with a group stage with 16 players and it would've been correct as well.

So no, it's very different from an invitational. In fact I'd say it's one of the most open events and has one of the most "deep" prize pools as well.

But I wonder, will you keep using the "identical pine tree mod"? I think it would make it look much nicer with the palm trees. Because everything else in terms of graphics, videos, etc. looks so nice, but those pines in the desert look so out of place.
