Some people kinda blind and talking about aoe4 players... Guys, Vinch has ALLWAYS been a beast, now he is a better beast and FOR THE FIRST TIME HE IS DRAFTING LIKE A HUMAN WITH A BRAIN.
The art of war is now inside him, and not the art of unnecesary mindgaming strange strategy and almost bad trolling.

What I would like to know is if we see more building of defensive towers in the economy due to AoE4 encouraging it within different civilisations play-styles.

We are already seeing more defensive towers, but because of the incredibly open arabia generations, and minimum-investment feudal ages that are popular among top pros. It doesn't have anything to do with AoE4 towers

i had noticed the gameplay from hera was extremely sharp in the openings almost always securing an opening advantage with a very tight BO which felt very sc2-esque to me (something aoe4 probably showed him with fast feudal uptimes for bare bones feudal eco.

Also , the investment of producing 1-2 scouts from hera after feudal age just to scout opponent base and camp relics is definitely something hera learnt to appreciate from aoe4 because scouts in aoe4 are very well designed. i havent seen hera do this before aoe4 release on ladder.

Slightly off-topic but;

I think we can say that Jordan has in this tournament (once again) some absolutely top tier gameplay, probably the best he's been in years. Jordan has always been a player that give his 100% in every tournament he played in, and KOTD4 clearly isn't an exception. I did honestly find it a bit disheartening that people were ready to crucify him for a one-off comment about motivation on stream.

I noticed it with Jordan as well I think. The players definitely mix in some fresh thoughts into their gameplay from AoE4. I like.

Exactly. Agreed 100%. He's finally drafting properly and not trying a low percentage troll play with Goths or some other dumb civ like that.

I think liereyy wins the tournament, Liereyy 4-1 would be my guess for the first semi, Viper-Jordan will be closer, being a 4-3 or 4-2 for Viper. And I predict a 5-4 final for Liereyy vs Viper, with it being some of the best games of the tournament.

it happened a thing that i see a lot. someone is in a better position and make archers, the other player make skirms and the one that was wining, continue with archers and loose. why they continue with archers if the enemy is making skirms.
literaly lierey loose against skirms. nothing more. if he would make skirms, he can easly win the game. vinch made them, and he turn the game on his favour.
and i repeat, i see a lot of players made the same. they have advantage, they comit to archers when the enemy has skirms, and they loose or loose the advantage.

If Lierrey went skirms, he wouldn't have anywhere close to the imp time he had in game. He also didn't have the eco setup for skirms. Also Skirms against Indian Hussars just doesn't sound good at all.

I had a feeling Vinch would run over Liereyy, actually. Yo was arguably the strongest player in the group stage and yet he got trampled in the quarters, while Liereyy already looked vulnerable in his set against Tatoh.

Vinch played really amazing, but credit to Skinny for recognizing early that his idol wasn't playing that well this tourney even after the 4-0 vs Sitaux.

make knights = lose every game, make xbows = win every game, this is what high level aoe2 has been for quite awhile. Huge, cheap power spike, and impossible for opponent to win if you just camp your base massing.
