Why would A native English speaker from Oxford cast in Spanish?

Why do people think they are in a position to question other people’s life decisions?! A while ago people were like „Larry has to commit more to age, if he doesn’t he is an ***** blah blah blah“. Now people seem to be in the position to question membs decision to mainly have english content (a decision he made 7 years ago). why not just let people do things the way they want to?

See, you acting like this grand moral authority is exactly the type of post that brings negativity to a thread.

No one is "questioning" Memb's "life decisions", let alone judging him.

People are giving an opinion. Last time I checked that's what forums are here for.
Both me and doacid were very polite in doing so and both our suggestions come from a place of deep appreciation for Memb's work, which I believe was quite obvious to anyone who still has enough attention span to read through whole posts.

This thread is about feedback. So if you feel like memb could work on his English to increase his vocabulary (which imo is absolutely fine) that is something you could say here. Questioning if it is the best financial option for him to have a 1v1 tournament in AGE and not invest all that effort in SC2 or whatever other game —> membs decision.

Long answer:
Why do you think you are in a position to question my decision (or others') to talk about whatever the hell I want? We could start a never ending discussion about what is the right way to be, the right way to share with others, the things we can talk about and the things that are taboo etc.. or respect that others are different and have a different view, that's what forums are for.
No need to be so sensitive about everything, afaik this seems like a civil discussion and not some witch hunt against Memb. If stuff other people say can annoy you or hurt you then a forum is not really the best place.

If you're confident enough about yourself it shouldn't matter what others think. Of course if you're insecure it'll annoy you a lot and even compel you to write a post complaining about others being different than you, but you can also use it as a learning experience and grow out of it.
There will always be hateful guys and trolls. Most people though still try to be respectful to one another and to their decisions.
By the way, you're the first (afaik, haven't read all the posts) to talk about having problems with Memb's English, which I certainly do not.

Short answer: I think I am in the position to share becase I AM.

So, bringing this back to a feedback thread...

I find it a bit weird that Memb's overlay shows players' resources in 2 different places.
The zooming levels were indeed a bit odd for mobile users in the 1st day but that seemed much better in the 2nd day.

Apart from that, everything great so far and I've been enjoying the tournament a lot!

This is a good point. If you are watching on the phone you can't turn to your phone when you get bored watching.

What I can say with confidence is that when casting in Spanish Memb is at GOD LEVEL. He is incredibly gifted. In English he is also very good, that's why people watch him and support him. But watching him in Spanish is like seeing Leonardo Da Vinci in his workshop, like Federer or Nadal playing tennis, like the Dire Straits in a concert. He is just touched by the hand of God.

See this is what I was thinking when I brought the question up, and if that is the case then I do not understand why some people seemed to react so strongly to it. If he is this good in Spanish then it says nothing negative about him to suggest that he is better than in English. Nice try, Only that you didn't mention in your post that he is "better" while casting in spainish and thus *you* would prefer to watch his spainish streams rather than English.

Memb's overlay looks great but I would appreciate unit and tech queues being on the opposite sides of screen, respective to player's resources. Sometimes I find it hard to watch the game, resources and queues at the same time and know to which player it belongs, especially right after I tune in.

Regarding the recs thing, something must be different with the way DE names them.
I saw at least 3 series where the order of the games was wrong: mbl's series; lierrey vs classicpro and Daut vs heartt.
Seems like too much of a coincidence and I wouldn't put the blame on the players just yet.

Is there anything that DE hasn't screwed up yet? But anyway, the quickest short-term solution is to tell players to not say anything other than "gg" after a game is done. Sure it's sporting to say "gl next" to your opponent but it's not essential and I'm sure the winners of each round will survive not having been wished good luck in the next round.

At least until the issue can be fully figured out.

Apparently that only happened in 2-0 series, but just imagine being a player like classicpro or sora kuma, heavy underdog against a top player and you win game 1 in a best of 3. And then noone will ever see that game because your opponent didnt name the games properly and we see game 3 and 2 first on stream, thinking the series ended 2-0. Great job so far Memb. Everything is awesome.

I had a few issues with Membs casting 1-2 years ago and preferred other chanells, but i think his english has aproved a lot and he toned down the excessive memes without losing his uniqueness. Now i enjoy his casting a lot. It was great when the tournament started and you saw Memb so proud of his tournament and Danaerys theme was playing in the background. I got goosebumps

Feedback: Arabia is overrated, and between equally skilled players, too often comes down to map gen. What prompted this post was my impression, already, that the games are ridiculously repetitive in terms of game play and civilization. And we've still have the prospect of about another 200 equally monotonous and lackluster games to go. It's likely many (like me) will only watch matches with headliners and, even then, they'll find the whole spectacle incredibly mild.

This is way too much prize money to have it wasted on so narrow preference that doesn't even establish who is the best RM Age2 player; it's more a measure of who is the best 1v1 land whore with the most consistent luck in map generation.

I haven't watched that much yet but from what I did see it was very enjoyable. Just the map by itself is a big improvement over the full walled by 8 min garbage we have been seeing in rated games.

Loser mentality to think the winner of this tournament will be decided by random map generation and not by skill and preparation. Want to win the big prize pool? Be the best player.

Maybe your random low elo legend nomad/bog island have a lot of “creative cheese”. But when people prepare strat seriously, in most other maps, there are only one or two optimal ways and civs to play, and the gameplay becomes incredibly boring. Arabia is much more dynamic and diverse. Action start at 5 mins. People compete for every slight edge. Like how many militia/maa do you make is already nuanced. To anyone who can’t appreciate a proper Arabia tournament, you may find better time playing other RTS like SC/WC/RoN/Red Alert. I am not even joking.

Thanks for bringing back the feudal age fun to arabia! The games have been so enjoyable to watch so far and for sure the best is yet to come. Standard DE arabia is super boring atm and I hope devs take this into consideration.

It would be nice to see average castle age times when the tourney finishes. It will show how important feudal age has become in this improved version of arabia.
