This whole reseeding thing is pretty nonsense - that's literally bracket rigging. That said, even if we were to entertain the thought that something has gone wrong with the bracket, why has the conversation focused on essentially punishing DauT for "screwing up the bracket" by his hard-fought victory? Not that I'd say anyone threw (nor am I anywhere near qualified to judge), but I would at least understand adjusting the bracket to penalize someone who threw their match to get into a "better" bracket - that's match fixing, and sometimes penalized by the thrower being DQ'd/banned from tournaments. But to penalize a winner? I can't get behind that.

If I recall correctly this happened in the last NAC and it was definitely the wrong call. And yes, it penalized a couple of players giving them tougher opponents. Many people disagreed back then, including myself. In my opinion it was close to be bracket rigging, even if the players were supposedly asked beforehand. I'm positive it was done with good intention, but you know what they say about Caesar's wife...
When you start a tournament with some settings then keep them until the end. Some small thing or small mistake I can understand that you want to change, but the brackets or the players match ups... that's completely out of the question.


Anyway, I don't recall a big tournament going as smooth as this one. Even scheduling and live games are going great. I can't wait for Memb to announce what he's doing with the rest of Pinztec's money, which it will obviously be Masters of Megarandom

Agreed on the titanic thingy, feels a little over the top. I enjoy and smile when Memb goes to his "lalalaaa lalalaaa... " etc, but to me these flashy things feel out of the picture (especially with a cocaster, may be different alone).

Then again great tournament so far, this is a really very minor thing and shows how there's so little going wrong. I have to say I admire Memb for staying true to his words and trying his best to involve the whole community. Open streaming, cocasting with everyone from Moonfaller and Nova to Zuppi and Spaden to Nili and Chris.

Good job Memb and team, excited for the rest of the tournament.

Rearranging brackets mid-tournament?

Unthinkable, but that is not what Robchang suggested.

He suggested something also as bad. Make it in the rules from the start, saying that after the group stage seeds will be rearranged.

So then, what is the value of finishing 1st or second in your group? That's just nosense.

If Liereyy is really better than DauT, he should have win last Saturday, he failed to do it, and now he gets one more chance to qualify. In any previous KOTD he would be out of the tournament, he can consider himself lucky.

You think Bo5 is not too much? Well, I think it is in line with other tournaments, and if the levels are so close that everything can happen, then the brackets won't be that unbalanced just because The "favourites" are in the same part. And of course these games are decided by small details. If Daut had failed to wall in G5 Lierey could have won, if Yo had made better decisions in his games, he could have won, if my grandmother had wheels...

I think that Kotd3 is wonderful and the fact that one between Daut/Tatoh/Max/Dogao/Mbl/Villese will reach the grand final is very interesting: they are all great players and I think that a grand final between maybe Viper and Mbl is not less interesting than the snake vs Hera or Lieerey.
I think also that Memb deserves a lot of gratitude for his work and moreover for the fact that he is involving a lot of cocasters, "small" and "big", because it prove Memb's professionalism and love for this community.
And also Tim, the guy for Pinztec deserves gratitude too for making Kotd3 possibile, and his interview was extremely funny: he llooks like a very nice guy that, like all us, loves this game.

I would like to vote pro titanic and badaboom effects. Maybe it appears a bit over the top to some, but imo its adds to the fun and goes well with Memb's style of casting. Even when there's a co-caster, Memb is the lead caster so it doesn't feel out of place, also since Memb generally times it well and uses only a couple of times per day. But I understand that it might appear out of place sometimes with fully serious co-casters.

I think a majority of the viewers do like the effects but I could be wrong though, so maybe Memb could take feedback from a larger viewership % through a poll.

Yeah the whole reseeding debate is absolutely pointless.

Funny tho how for Tatoh probably one of his worst tournament performances in recent times suddenly massively increased his chances to win a signficantly larger amount of money. Of course, Villese, Daut and then MBL/TheMax are definitely no pushovers, but I think he'll take that path over Liereyy into Viper/Yo every day of the year.

Still hurts a bit to see only two of Viper/Yo/Liereey/Hera in the final. Who would've thought KotD3 would end up producing seemingly "worse" brackets than randomized Hidden Cup? :D

A more dramatic result would be that Yo advanced out of the bracket of Viper/Yo/Liereey/Hera, and MBL advanced from Daut/Tatoh/Max/Dogao/Mbl/Villese, and MBL got the champion in the grand final. That would be epic. 11

1) Why can't the maps have different 'moods' (as I think they are called in the map editor). It seems like they have all been the desert mood - but it would have been nice if green, autumn were also chosen at random. This is a purely aesthetic choice and is nothing to do with the actual scripting of the maps.

2) Memb, I have loved your casting, but I feel like there are too many ways in which the sets are spoiled for the YouTube viewers. I know there are issues with the YouTube algorithm etc, but would it be possible to make the videos all the same lengths? When I was watching TheMax v Viper for example, and Viper won the first game, when you see that the video is 1:30:00 long, it becomes obvious that Viper has won the set, since it's unlikely that there would be time for Max to win at least 3 games. The other thing is spoilers in the video titles.

Just a quick answer to the first note. The reason there's only one theme is that we're running King of the Desert, and not King of the Grasslands or King of the Jungle. It's to keep it consistent for the players as well so they know what to expect.

To be honest I agree with you. We're talking about human lives here. I think it's very distasteful of Memb to make fun of hundreds of people who died in the freezing ocean. People who for the most part couldn't even say goodbye to their loved ones.

On this very same topic I've been planning for a while to start a campaign to raise awareness about aoe2. A game that trivializes war. The Spanish conquering poor Americans, the English destroying natives too. All the lost lives for nothing.
I've been hesitant to do it because I didn't find any support. However I might have found my kindred spirit in you. Maybe together we can do it? Even if people laugh at us we should unite and be strong.

Think some folks are overly obsessed with the Viper / Yo / Liereyy / Hera on one side of the draw.
First, I'd argue if MBL was on that side it'd make it even more stacked, think he's a more dangerous 1v1 arabia player than Yo.
So that leaves Liereyy as the other "unexpected" high seed in that side... defeated by a guy who'd clearly done his homework and practiced his strategies... which is precisely what everyone wants to see, right?

I for one love the titanic and badaboom and as professional as you are trying to be Memb you should keep a taste of your crazy side because it makes it much more fun to watch.
As far as being offended at the titanic, I think the whole idea of having an aoc game is trivializing war and all those who ever fought or died in one. So if titanic offends you aoc should offend you infinitely more and then why are you here?

Casters should be themselves. The Titanic and badaboom are a bit of fun. I get that they’re not to everyone’s taste but there’s lots of casters available to cater to different preferences. Memb’s viewers don’t watch him because they want him to pretend to be Nili. I hope Memb keeps them as it’s part of his identity and what makes Memb Memb.
