If in .rms it writes 16~20 distance, the position of boar actually like this imageI would still like the boar distance to be less random as well, why not just make the variable here smaller so it's about the same distance all the time?
If you updated it yesterday I haven't played the most recent version, but from my experience playing it so far, it feels like Boars spawn quite far away most of the time(apparently you fixed this somewhat though, no idea why it was increased to begin with though). I would still like the boar distance to be less random as well, why not just make the variable here smaller so it's about the same distance all the time? In a map where you're aiming to eliminate some RNG, why not make the Boar RNG less painful as well?
I also don't know if the fact that there are no cliffs or ponds is affecting this in any way, but woodlines seem to be way more inconsistent, which means there is a bigger chance of a really unfair map, and it also feels like they're on hills a lot of the time. I don't know if there are more or less hills either, but it definitely feels like there are way more hills as well, which I think is a negative as it invites to more hill camping.
Just first impressions from a fairly small sample of games, I don't know if others who have played it feel the same.
@Henkdesupernerd explained a lot of my reasoning pretty well. The removal of cliffs had more side-effects than we originally planned for. While we're trying to minimise the RNG in the map, we do not want to make it too easy and predictable for the players - giving objects a broader spawn range also forces players to use their scout effectively. Age of Empires 2 has always been a game with a fair amount of random factors influencing the game, and it has never been our goal to eliminate this completely. The ability to scout and adapt to situations is also something we value highly. If you updated it yesterday I haven't played the most recent version, but from my experience playing it so far, it feels like Boars spawn quite far away most of the time(apparently you fixed this somewhat though, no idea why it was increased to begin with though). No need for green arabia in King of the Desert 11Get the cliffs back and the desert/green arabia combination. You ll increase the variation of strategies used, so we dont see the same game everytime.
Boars have the same spawn distance as other versions. Make sure you're subscribed the the newest version on the workshop. No idea if it was said already but boars spawn WAY too far.
I casted all games liereyy played vs mbl, and talked with liereyy btw all games, he said map was good, 0 complains in 5 games.I was spectating Larry's game and his boar spawned miles from TC. Perhaps was old version? Dunno but it looked too far for me:D
Any chance you would add a bit more wood to the map?

Feel free to check the code or do a few map generations. Your suggestion to remove them seem trivial as your assumption that they are random, is wrong. They will always spawn far away from both players, and no one should have a notable advantage.I saw MBL playing the latest versions, are the ostriches random? do they belong to any player?
they seem to be random at least in 1v1 and of course they make a huge difference on the course of the game if they spawn closer to a player and the other one has 0. Why not just remove them?

If you have cases of this happening, don't hesitate to link me to the recorded game.
Was it to hard to find the recorded game?Feel free to check MBL yesterday's VOD.
