We are very aware of the holidays and that these times can be extremely hectic for many people. We are travelling and spending time with friends and family, making it difficult to spend a lot of time on these kinds of things. We hope that this time extension will allow everyone to give this tournament all they got!
Secondly, we have been very generous regarding the games being played in the two weeks leading up to the tournament. Because of the lack of rules or guidelines on this subject, there are now many cases of participants competing against players that have a significantly lower elo than themselves, allowing them to reach the 15 games and boost their elo notably. This is our fault for not addressing this the proper way, but we simply didn't expect this to be abused in this manner. However, this does fall extremely close to point-trading and game-spamming, which is obviously not okay.
Therefore, with the extension of the deadline we are also adding a new rule regarding the games being played - because of the high level of skill amongst all possible contestants, all 15 games must be played against opponents that are 2000 elo or above.
Thirdly, because of these issues, we've ultimately decided that we have to extend the deadline to the upcoming Sunday, allowing players to play the required games properly before the deadline has been reached.
