Hi everyone! I'm new to the community, although I've been following and playing AOE 2 for a couple years.
Though I'm very low ELO (900) at the moment because I have very little time to play, in my experience, and in what I've seen in the castings and streams, I think knight civs are OP.
Here is my reasoning to sustain the previous statement:
* Most knight civs have enough variety of units to counter and support there knights in any situation.
* The current meta I've seen in 1 v 1 games is to fully wall by the transition of Dark Age to Feudal and send agro only to distract and FC.
* Knights can easily break through any kind of walls (except maybe stone, which is not widely used) and do serious damage, even being able to fight under TC fire.
* The most straight forward counter to knights are pikemen line, although they're trash, you must mass them, plus when you do, they're pretty much useless to mount a counter attack on your opponent's base, die pretty easily to TC fire and even towers and die to less than equal numbers to knights.
* Mobility from knights allow even the most inexperienced players to have map control against other kind of army composition.
* They render unuseful the scout line.
* Knight line beats: eagle, skirm, unmassed archers, scouts, militia line, unmassed CA, siege. (All of the previous mostly in Castle Age).
I would love to read your opinions.
