A) 4 player FFA games in a 3 game series
Participants will sign up in pods of 4 players. In each group/pod, a series of games will be played and points will be earned depending upon the results of each game. All games in the series must be played. The sum of a person’s score over three games determines their placement within the pod. The top two players of each pod will advance to the next round, while the other two players are eliminated from the tournament. Play will continue until the grand final. Sign Ups for this tournament are now OPEN until September 21st 23:59 GMT.
B) Participation in the tourney
I would like to have the setup be to quarterfinal groups/pods at the very least (16 players for the 4 groups/pods), but there is no limit to the number of players that can sign up to participate. If you choose to sign up, you agree to be able to attend the times for the semifinals and grand finals: on the Saturday September 24th and Sunday September 25th respectively.
C) Game Settings
All Game Settings will be set to those described in the spoiler below. There will be no teams formed at all at any point in the games.

The Map Pack for this tournament is posted in a separate topic for this Tournament. Please use this to download. PM myself MobiusOne should you have trouble downloading or copy/pasting the maps. The only difference on these maps from the standard release of AoK is the increased relic count. This has been done to help players generate more gold units over the course of these Free For All Games.
E) Other Official Rules
1) All games must be played in the Voobly Tournament lobby using No Wall Mod and VCOM tournament ladder for record.
2) All Games must be played in regicide format. If you lose your king, you are eliminated from that game. You do not have to be eliminated from the game by losing your king. A Resignation also counts as a loss. Common sense has also indicated that hiding a king in the corner of the map while other players are eliminated is a viable strategy for this tourney. However, with the no walls mod, treason, and rule number 3 below, it will be difficult for players to keep their king alive if they choose do go this route.
3) The King may only garrison inside of a Castle. If you only have one castle, the king can only garrison inside of it. For partial water maps such as Coastal, this will prevent players from unfairly garrisoning the king inside of a transport ship and sending it to an obscure corner of the map. In addition: Town Center; Tower; and Seige Ram/Capped Ram/Battering Ram Garrisoning, are also forbidden. This is done to increase the vulnerability of the king in game, allowing an aggressive player to king snipe more easily. There is no limit to how many castles a player can have, that is dictated by the amount of stone a player collects over the course of the game. Any player who violates this rule will be assessed the last place finish in the game in which the infraction occurs as a warning. Should the conduct continue, the player will then be disqualified. The King however, is free to scout/move for any player at their own risk and does not necessarily have to be garrisoned at all times. In instances of KITC_Nomad or KITC_Land_Nomad as chosen maps, players will not start with a castle; making it more difficult to defend their kings.
4) There are no restarts for any player. Because of the nature of Free for All games and in the interest of time, there will be no restarts apart from an admin restart as a result of an infraction or a bugged map.
5) Laming is not permitted. Due to the fact that there are no restarts, there also will not be any laming of another player’s starting resources of any kind. Boar Stealing, Deer Killing, Walling off Gold/Stone/Berries/Wood/Hunt, and walling off relics are considered laming for the purposes of this tournament. Laming in a game will result in a last place finish for that game for the offending player. A repeat offense for the remainder of the tournament is grounds for disqualification. However, strategies such as: a Town Center Drop (Persian Douche); Tower Rush; or Wolf Trains, are not considered laming and are fair game for players. In addition, taking non-huntable resources of another player with forward villagers is fair game. Taking the remaining resources of a defeated player is also fair game. Players are allowed and encouraged to use the resources of a defeated/resigned player in the later stages of the game, up to rule 6.
6) Trading by land and/or by sea with another player is banned, even if it is with a defeated player.
7) If there is a tournament official streamer and/or admin who requests to watch and/or stream the game live, they are permitted to do so.
8) All Games are to be recorded and it is the responsibility of the second place player of a pod to post all recordings on AoCZone underneath the tournament thread. This is done since that player will have played all four games in a pod in all circumstances, unlike the winner of a pod. Recorded Games must be saved in the following manner:
“KITC_QuarterfinalPodX_GameY_Bear<v>Lion<v>Tiger<v>Cheetah”
Tournament_RoundPod#_Game#_P1<v>P2<v>P3<v>P4
9) In the maps KITC_Nomad, and KITC_Land_Nomad; no villager wars are permitted. No fighting may occur until all players have a Town Center up. Players are also not permitted to use their villagers to lame another’s resource on this map- see rule #3 for more detail. The first building on these maps may be either a house, lumber camp, dock or Town Center (resource permitting).
10) For the purposes of scoring, the first player to resign or is defeated finishes in last place for that game. The next player to resign or be defeated finishes in third place for that game. The runner up will be the third player eliminated in a game. Finally the only person left not defeated in the game- or has not resigned by eliminating his/her enemies will be considered the winner of that game. All players will earn points according to their finish only.
11) Points from previous rounds DO NOT carry over to the next round of tournament play.
12) The Scoring System; Points will be allocated for each game according to the following table.
Position Points Allocated
Winner/First Place Earns 3 points
Runner Up/Second Place Earns 2 points
Third Place Earns 1 point
Last Place Earns 0 points
Winner/First Place Earns 3 points
Runner Up/Second Place Earns 2 points
Third Place Earns 1 point
Last Place Earns 0 points
The Top Two Players with the highest and second highest scores will advance to the next round. If there is a tie for first and/or second place by any number of players, then a Fourth Game will be played as a tie breaker. Only players who can still mathematically advance, but have not advanced yet can participate in a game 4 tiebreak. To help explain this concept, please read the following examples of Pod # and Pod .
Example Pod #
In Pod #, there are players W, X, Y, and Z. Player X wins the first game, is eliminated first in the second game, and comes in 3rd the third game of the series. Player X’s pod score would be 3+0+1= 4 points. Player W comes in 2nd in all 3 games. Player W would then have 6 points in the pod. Player Y was third place in the first game, then won the second game, then was eliminated first in the third game. Player Y’s score would also be 4 points. Player Z then won the last game, but was in last place in the first game and was third place in the second game. Player Z’s score would also be 4 points.
Thus the pod scores would be below.
Pod # Results
Player W – 6 points
Player X – 4 points
Player Y- 4 points
Player Z- 4 points
In the example above, Player W will mathematically advance to the next round, but there is a three way tie for the second advancing position. To resolve the tie, a fourth game would occur between the players contending for the final position. In addition, Player W will not participate in the 4th game since he/she has already won the Pod and will advance to the next round. This is done so he/she will have no further effect on the outcome of the pod. The winner of game 4 among the three players will advance as the runner-up in the group pod. Let’s look at another theoretical example for Pod $.
Example Pod $
Pod $ Results
Player D- 7 Points (winner, winner, third)
Player E- 4 points (second, second, last)
Player F- 4 points (third, third, second)
Player G- 3 points (Last, Last, winner)
In this example for Pod $, Player D wins the Pod and advance to the next round. Players E and F will play a 1 vs 1 as the 4th game tiebreaker. Player D and Player G do not participate in Game 4, as Player D already won the group and Player G was mathematically eliminated in the prior three games.
13) The winner of a pod will not play in the same pod as the runner up of the same pod in the next round. The only exception for this rule is in the Grand Final.
14) If a Game 4 is required, that game must take place immediately after Game 3 of the Pod.
15) If a player drops, all other players must save and exit and restore the game. Failure to do so results in tournament admin action up to disqualification. If game is unable to be restored, a new game with the exact same settings will occur to replace the game in question. Players that had been defeated in the prior game before the drop will not participate in the remake and will score the appropriate points for that game as they finished. Should Lag be an issue in this instance, a limit of one tournament official streaming spectator will be assessed to the lobby to help in this effort.
16) In the event of a pod less than 4 players 10 minutes past the indicated start time, the following actions will be taken to resolve the group pod.
16a) First, there will be a thread open in signups for Alternates; for these individuals, the sign up process is the same- just show up to the quarterfinal pod and if there is a vacancy after 10 minutes past the start time, it will be given away on a first come first serve basis. If there is no alternate present to fill the spot, one of the following will be assessed.
16b) For a group/pod missing one player, the remaining three players will still play their scheduled 3 game series; winning points accordingly per each game (winner of a game gets 2 points, runner up of a game gets 1 point, last place in a game gets 0 points). The highest two scores from the pod will advance as normal. A fourth game may be necessary. This scenario only plays out if each player in the pod has the same exact score- which would be 4 out of a possible 6. In this specific case, the first person eliminated in the fourth game tiebreaker will be eliminated from the tournament. The remaining players in the tie-breaker game must finish the game to determine the winner of the group for seeding purposes.
16c) If a group/pod is missing two players, then the two players present in the group will advance, and play one 1v1 game for the group/pod to determine who wins the group/pod.
16d) If there is only one person available in a group at the designated scheduling time, that person will automatically advance as the winner of the group. In addition to this, the highest scoring third place player from all the other pods in that round of the tournament will advance as well as the runner up of the one player pod.
17) If you would like to admin and/or this tournament in conjunction with myself (Mobius One), please Private Message me on AoCZone. 19) Tiebreak/Game 4 rules- If a pod requires a tiebreak game to determine who advances from the pod and/or who wins or finishes in second in the pod in question, the following rules in conjunction with tournament rules shall apply.
19a) In a 1v1 tiebreak game, the winner of the game wins the tiebreak and will be placed ahead of their opponent in the final pod standings.
19b) In a 3 player tiebreak game, the winner of the game wins the tiebreak if there is only one advancing position still being contested in the pod. In the event that both pod positions are still contested after game 3, the winner of game 4 wins the pod. The runner up of game four also advances as the runner up in the pod.
19c) In unlikely and non-mathematically possible scenario where Game 4 is a 4 player FFA, the results of game 4 will stand as the final results of the Pod. Winner game 4 will win the Pod, Runner up game 4 is the runner up of the pod. Third Place game 4 finishes the pod in third.
