As the majority of the Random Map community is in turmoil over the new Expansion with the features and "features" it has to offer, but while all this happens the Random Map Scripters welcome the exciting update and the implementation of UserPatch features. Old tomes filled with guides how to operate the in-script modding of the game are being dusted and opened after times long. Archived RM Scripts made in the distant lands of Voobly are being pulled out from the archives and taken out for test drives once more.
And now it is here, the relief for constant aching of why the Xolotl Warrior was locked and hidden away never to be seen and used in a standard game. NO MORE — I say!
After reintroducing myself to the amazing features of UP (that now dwell on the plains of DE) and past the point of getting aid in my quest I present to you the revised Xolotl Warrior...
With the magic of UserPatch that will be following us to the future and reshaping and redefining game balance and tournaments, as it did in the times past. For instance...
The code above allows me to have fun with the Mesoamerican Civilizations a lot more than the usual and somewhat seems to fit into the game balance overall as it becomes available in Castle Age and situated in the Town Center in order to provide a risk-reward system. Whether you invest in this highly mobile raider unit or focus on your economy is the trade-off for the Castle Age, however in Imperial Age I am sure many idle TCs could be utilized to make Xolotl Warriors.
From a historical perspective perhaps it makes sense for Aztecs and Incas to have it unlocked in the Imperial Age, though Mayans probably should not have it at all. BUT I am not here for accurate history, nor is the game completely historical in its essence, so I threw my hands up and went chaotic fun.
As a footnote to my ramblings, this basically means a lot more interesting content is going to resurface by the community creators (old and new alike) and if the DE developers should be not fit to balance their new Civilizations properly or introduce dubious balance changes to the game — then the Random Map Scripters can apply their own balance, or anyone in fact that considers units, buildings, techs, civilizations overpowered or underpowered.
If you want to have Xolotl Warriors for your Meso civilizations too, then open the spoiler.
DISCLAIMER: The Xolotl Warrior shares the "Q" hotkey with the Villager for unit creation. If using hotkeys either change the Villager hotkey or the Scout Cavalry, Light Cavalry, Hussar (shared by Xolotl Warrior, but not specified) to something different.
