After the convincing win of the spanish legend, i wouldn't be surprised if he had many more big wins up his sleeve
Let the reign of our new king begin
Let the reign of our new king begin
I think he read the thread here and/or on Reddit and realized that it was his mentality setting him back (not seeing himself as a winner, or someone who had what it took to be the best). Those threads were probably wake up calls for him and he decided change his outlook.Tatoh played so beasty the whole tournament, it was really impressive and he won all series by a gap enough to say he didn't have any lucky win. I think he even improved a bit also in terms of pure skill during the last months, so i guess we might see him now even more often in the top 4. Some thoughts about why he was so dominant:
-It's hard to tell who came up with some of the GL's strats (probably was some dialectic work and during games it develops into player's preference i guess) but he was the one who executed them the best way. The steppe lancer strat felt Dautish, hehe, but was a great idea. Korean approach in NI was very hard to execute (also quite dautish) but was prime gameplay. More feudal pressure oriented strat, turks, and his shoals dominance felt more his signature play. He also mentioned Vinchester's help that could had developed into some of his more aggressive approaches.
-He is a fantastic late feudal age player and he applied that in many games. His feudalvoy meme strating days might had pay off. He also is one of the best cavalry player and it seems like this edition the meta was more oriented towards cavalry play.
-He was mentally on top. One can joke with the aoezone's mental block thread, but he looked stronger than others in the biggest tourney ever with the largest prizepool and even live audience, and dealing with different set up awkwardness. Maybe crushing Liereyy at the begining or coming back from a 0-2 vs Jordan was a boost. Or maybe he felt confident after a good preparation for the tourney. Who knows. But this time he looked the strongest in that aspect. You could even see his total focus face.
While i completly agree with you i would like to point out that viper has a lot of fans for whom most important is the certain player and not the quality of gameplay and who increase viewership of the tournament (viper quaterfinal was the most viewed match in the whole wololo legacy tournament on twitch) and i guess viewereship is important for sponsors like red bull.hope not.
not because i dont like tatoh, in fact i was chearing for him, but because i want that more people win the tournaments and not always the same. this year won Yo, vinchester, not remember if viper won one, now tatoh, diversity is what i want
Its also about sheer stamina sometimes. Tatoh showed so much patience and resilience in all the game he went scouts in feudal age, and yes his feudalvoy thing means he is well versed in those situations but vs liereyy hera, two players who had a +30/40 EAPM over him consistently, says a lot about how well he microed those battles. So many games, but the khmer hindustani game vs liereyy was just insane, the amount of patience tatoh showed and how clean he was with his scout movement, no misclicks, no shakiness, no misclicking the farms while controlling units, he never committed to a vil in which he would take 1-2 spear hits, always microed and manuevered around the spears, simultaneously defended scouts archer in his base, and killed soo many vils from liereyy was just special. Just the feudal age in G1 vs liereyy takes so much energy out of a player, i cannot stress how well he kept up the level throughout the set. Even after that feudal age when liereyy was down to 30 vs 50 vils, liereyy didnt die all the way until imp when he had 100-120 vils, so tatoh was in for a long set vs a player who just doesn't die
