Viper won 2 of them, Yo won 2 of them, while the rest were won by Vinchester, Hera and TaToH respectively. 3 wins for GL and only 1 for AM. No one cares about whether an event is sponsored/hosted by GL or not. It doesn’t affect how the tournament is played. Like you said GL were heavily involved in like 2 of the last 8 S-tier solo tournaments, which by pure coincidence are the only ones won by AM. This doesn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things. The last two BOAs were also extremely close. GL members are older, sure, but I don’t see why they would suddenly become “irrelevant” after this tournament.

Let's remember NAC has a 9-vill start which is kind of EW-like which always gave advantage to players like Hera/Lierrey.

Against Lierrey, when it was 3-3 Viper was super close to beating Lierrey, the islands game clearly favoured him so if only he was able to win Enclosed he would be in a great position.

Hera looks dominant but in the finals i'm cheering for Lierrey, he deserves a S-tier win.

As a Viper fan, I think it's obvious that he's no longer the dominant player who sets the pace in the game. While I can't speak for others, it's worth noting that there are three main events in aoe2, NAC, HC, and KOTD (the Red Bull tournament being a new and different concept). Viper won the first three NACs, the first three HCs, and the first two KOTDs. Even Viper himself would likely admit that things are not the same as they used to be for now.

Today he only has more wins than anyone else.

But Villese has a positive record against Viper for a reason. its not like the group stage matter a whole lot in this tournament.

Just to top off on Ville's achievements against snek, Viper said in the new podcast with Nelson that day 1 against Villese he was normal, the gallstones pain kicked in from day 3

I don't think Viper's form necessarily dropped. Maybe it has but let's not forget he had some health issues to deal with during NAC. But I think more importantly everyone else's level has caught up to him. Especially Hera and Lierey.

It's more competitive than it has ever been and I hope more players get to that top 5 level of play. MBL will go full time soon and Hearttt has been putting in the grind.

No, I think he said he has something during moa, also he said he probably wouldn't sign even if he was free 11.

Well I like that seems we are finally over era where few pro players like Liereyy and Viper could mostly just train 2 weeks before tournament and be top1-4. Hera trains as much if not more for tournaments and he grinds really a lot, hopefully it pushes more top players to play more often. Curious about Liereyy too, if he will be like fk this sht or he will actually get some motivation to train more.

It's interesting times for sure, at one point it seems its the hardest times to predict who will win sets as it ever was and at same time hera seems becoming clearer and clearer nr. 1.

Will there ever be a 1v1 tournament with a loser bracket? With a loser bracket we can get a more confident ranking for the top 4, like A>B>C>D, since the impact of seeding/bracket or a bad day can be minimized.
